I have to admit to not getting past the first page. I was hesitant to read the book after checking other reviews and being in need of something more upbeat. Then the book disappeared from the coffee table, probably into my daughter's knapsack and off to parts unknown. So no rating on this one!

I really enjoyed this book. It starts out with Meghan being a prisoner of the Winter Faery Queen and deserted by the Winter Prince, Ash, who she thought loved her. Meghan thought the Iron Fey were defeated but when they steal the scepter from the Winter Court she realizes that the battle isn't finished. With Ashes help they both escape. Their journey to find the scepter takes them through the faery and human world. Once on their journey the action intensifies and Meghan gets help from some surprising characters. The romance between Ash and Meghan develops more in this book and leads to a cliff-hanger ending that left me wanting to read the next book.

The reviews inside the book describe it as a "Bridget Jones for men". I think the comparison may be somewhat of a stretch, but I still enjoyed the book very much. The story is about a young single man looking for action/love in New York City. Some scenes are hilarious, some heartbreaking, but more than anything I finished the book wanting to find a boy as taken with me as the main character of the book is with his coworker, Julia.

really great series! it reminded me of a mix of alice in wonderland, narnia and a variety of hero stories. Meghan is a great character and the story follows the classical hero's tale. I also love the inclusion of classical faery myths, very well researched and I can't wait for more.

The plot is seriously sub-standard, even for something in this series, and there are times when Rusch works in lines from the original movies that I would pay good money to see no-one ever use again (starting with "I've got a bad feeling about this" and working from there). The characterisation is better than normal, though, and it's passably well-written - putting it far above the normal run of single volume SW books. About the level of an average fanfic, really.

Terrific little book! In some ways it's hard to read, because its purpose is to call you out on why you haven't moved forward with the work you know you should do. Not work as in painting the house or cleaning the garage, but rather work as in your goals and aspirations. Learn to accept failing as a step toward success, and practice failing as quickly as possible. It's nothing I haven't read before, but Seth Godin puts it out there and asks you "Why haven't you done it yet? What's the worst that could happen? So what?" It's a fast read, but the content really hits home. I think I may just pull this one out every six months and read it again. Great work, Seth.

Poison Study was a beautiful read. We have a swoon-worthy male (Valek) and a determined girl (Yelena). The story takes you to the wonderful world of Ixia, where the Commander needs a food taster to prevent being poisoned. Yelena's the next in line for the noose, so she's offered the position. Valek trains her and eventually falls for her. Full review to come.
