Ahhhhh! Perfection... of course! At the end of of Married With Zombies, David and Sarh had decided they were such kick ass zombie slayers that they would go into post Zombie Apocalypse business! Flip This Zombie picks up right where MWZ left off- so ZombieBusters Extermination Inc. at your service! For all your zombie needs! However, this time around they are dealing with an entirely different bread of zombies. Faster... smarter... "Bionic Zombies" to quote Sarah. When they get their next 'job' via a note at a survivor camp (What? You think cell phones survived the Zombie Apocalypse?) the last thing they were expecting was a Luke Wilson look alike- mad-scientist type guy, CLAIMING to have found a cure for the zombie epidemic. Oh... and he was pointing a "shit-load of guns" controlled by a little remote straight at them. DR. Kevin Barnes needs them to CATCH a zombie (Suuuuure- no big deal Doc!) in order to 'test' his cure on the infected. Well, Dave was uuuum- less than enthusiastic about that idea. But, Sarah was more easily swayed by a shower and an arsenal of awesome weaponry! "We'd even gotten one of those handhelp multi-shot cannons I'd coveted. I have to admit, I creamed my shorts a little everytime I looked at it all awesome and deadly and stuff in the back of the van." -Sarah Sarah is SO my kinda chick! I freaking love her. They DO catch a zombie and 'The Kid' (Robbie-NOT a zombie) ... but the good doctor needs more zombies. (You know for research and all.) Needless to say, they go on their next 'Catch a Zombie Mission' and everything is going fairly smoothly- UNTIL the zombie gets loose INSIDE their van while in transit back to the lab! *GASP* Luckily they crash right outside the lab and the doc saves them. But David is now positive that Dr. Kevin is behind these new bionic zombies and LEAVES Sarah when she refuses to quit helping with the doc's research! *tears* Sarah is seconds away from being eaten by zombies on her first solitary mission when David bursts in and saves the day!!! "He was beautiful and dependable and whole and mine! And I owed him a big fucking apology. And probably a blow job or something, because I had truly screwed up." -Sarah You will NEVER guess how this turns out dude! It's totally an OH. MY. FREAKING. GOD. moment(s). I'm still amazed... Married With Zombies is zombie awesomeness at it's best. Flip This Zombie is seriously DOUBLY awesome and I absolutely cannot wait to start Eat, Slay, Love!

5 stars for language, setting and theme 2 for plot/story (like some Faulker novels, I could not follow what was happening. I mean, I could tell who one the races (barely) but the relationships between people were very enigmatic and frustrating. Why was that guy mad at that woman? I think I missed a whole bunch....wanted to love it.Didn't.

Really good, though it dragged in a couple places and a few sections of the book were unnecessary. I dont like it when the author drags out a story that could be told in fewer pages.

i really loved this book, but this too should be replaced soon as standard middle school reading. isnt' there a more modern book about a group being oppressed and denied access to education, only to have one person from that group learn through extraordinary circumstances and put all the oppressors to shame? maybe something about a girl in some third world country?

If you're an anglophile and a boat-o-phile and a limnophile, you're going to love this book. Raban delivers his usual heavy dose of esotera and history... some of it in the making here: The Falklands conflict gets under way, coal miners are going on strike, and England is decaying as Raban sets sailing in the Gosfield Maid.

I originally gave this book four stars, but since reading it I've become pretty obsessed with the main character, so bumping to five. "Imagine what he'd think about this." or "I bet he saw that." you know, you know...

The worst thing about "The Chronoliths," is that it isn't three times longer. The length feels right for the story, but I just wanted to stay with this reality and these characters for a much longer time than Wilson gave me. There is one glaring question that is never answered, but as much of me that wants to know the answer, there's just as much who prefers the mystery. Mostly, I'm disappointed that there wasn't more to read. They say "always leave them wanting more," and Wilson has certainly done it here. The story feels incomplete and wholly satisfying at the same time. I think it's this dichotomy of emotions my memories of this book brings up that have lodged it so deep into my mind. A really successful endeavor, and a really good read.

Not bad, but not as good as the last one. This book had a lot of action and to say that this book was for Connor and Christabel, they were not in it as much. This book had more Lucy than I would've liked, her and Nicholas are my least favorite couple, I mean, even the parents, Helena and Liam are more interesting than they are. That said, I liked it okay, some parts dragged, mostly toward the end. Overall, not a bad installment and I look rather forward to the next one.

I've read every novel by Le Guin and a lot of her stories and poetry as well. Lavinia is a strong addition to her canon, although I miss some of the mind-bending ambiguity and mind-opening creativity of her earlier works. Lavinia is beautiful story and a tour de force because of what she sees in the Aeneid and does with it. Still, to call a novel truly I great I have to see more complex characters and tragic irony than I find in Lavinia. I read all her other works around 1998 and 1999 and was inspired by them to write a kind of fan fiction (http://praxagora.com/andyo/parody/dis...). Each story and novel Le Guin had written up to that time amazed me, because even if it had weaknesses it still offered some unique viewpoint that seemed potentially life-changing. Unfortunately, some of the work that came out later disappointed me; it looked tired and like she was just scraping the bottom of the barrel. I'm happy to say Lavinia is fresh, has lovely writing, maintains suspense, and reaches a transcendent ending worthy of Le Guin. All her usual concerns are recognizable, but without seeming stale. One of the indications that Lavinia was successful, for me, is that it encouraged me to reread the Aeneid, and I saw much more in that classic this time around.
