I'm not a Hemingway fan at all but I'm fascinated by writer's of this era and their lives. This was a great view into Hemingway's early life and an amazing time in Europe.

Snowcrrash was my first introduction to Stephenson and it was one I enjoyed quite a bit. The story was pretty compelling and a somewhat epic cyberpunk tale that was well written, face paced and filled with action, mystery and humor. It's set in America after it's downfall where cities/states have all splintered off to form their own govt.'s and revolves around a young girl and her exploits in the virtual world and the dangers/mysteries she runs into there. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars and recommend to anyone enjoying post-apocalyptic Sci-Fi in general and cyberpunk specifically.

I remember hearing Lamott read from this when I was a senior in college. Maybe it was the synchronicity - the book talks in part about one character during her senior year in college, during a time of lies, errors, and self-delusion - but it really resonated with me then. I didn't love it but I responded very strongly. A compelling read with a specific demographic. Maybe someday I'll be far enough beyond my own lost period to be able to read it again, and find more in it than a vindication of my own lostness.

The biggest lie in America is sitting right on your dinner plate. If 'Eating Animals' doesn't make you think, then you are thoughtless. Factory farming is horrific and needs to end now. The marketing may trick you into feeling warm & fuzzy about your 'cage-free' or 'free range' animal products, but its all a lie. Bravo to Foer for literally bringing this conversation to the dinner table!

This was a fun fairy tale and I wonder why it isn't better known. It is definitely not as good a read as the Princess and the Goblin but it isn't suppose to be. MacDonald is one of the great authors who are word crafters like Dickens and Austen. The concepts in the story are funny at times but at times serious and convey good morals. I certainly enjoyed it.
