I really appreciated the storyline: it was exciting and I wasn't able to find the real killer of Dante until the end. I think it's a really good book even if it's not well structured. The investigation isn't well defined and the author focused on the search of the "Arch" and on Bernard. Probably while I was reading I'm focused on the search of the Arch too, that's why I didn't understand who the killer was. Anyway the author did a really good work about the interpretation of the "Divina Commedia". I really appreciated the descriptions of Firenze and Bologna: I read a lot about italian issues in 1300 and I found the picture of these cities very realistic. So, the book flows smoothly and I loved the storyline but in the next book I hope the author will take care of all the characters equally!

Nearly perfect! I didn't want the books to end, as I had grown so fond of the characters.

okay, so I didn't read the last 10 pages because I spilled tea all over the book and the pages are stuck together, so if I may have missed a critical part. Let me say though, for such a short book, it took me along time to get through it. I found the author's stream of consciousness writing style kind of off putting, and was more interested in her dads journal entries. I guess I just didn't really relate to the main character very well, so didn't really care about her plight. This book does have some good one liners and I laughed out loud a few times.
1975 Caldecott Medal Winner Beautiful illustrations in warm colors. A boy is conceived by the Sun and when he's older, the Arrow Maker turns him into an arrow so that he can go find his father. Interesting tale, but pretty trippy--the Kiva of Lightning and the rainbow colors at the end reminded me of Katamari Damacy.

This is sooo excellent. Wonderful bedtime reading. No cliffhangers, but very interesting.

This little short stars a couple of appropriately sized heroes. (I’m short, so I can say that.) Joe is 5 feet and Ron is only about 5’6″, so they are both small statured men, however Ron’s personality and charisma are much larger. When Joe is “kidnapped” from the bathroom after class, he’s at first terrified, then mystified when it becomes clear that Ron is his abductor. He doesn’t understand why popular capable Ron would be interested in a nerdy type like him. While I appreciated Joe’s lust from afar, I didn’t quite get where Ron was coming from. He’s never so much as talked to Joe outside of class but decides to kidnap him for a weekend of kinky camping? What if the guy had freaked out? As it was, walking a man blindfolded and handcuffed from a campus building is not very discreet, which I suppose at the age of 19 is probably par for the course. When Joe asks for an explanation, Ron gives a round-about logic that he knew Joe liked him and could tell Joe would be submissive to his dominance. There is some bondage in the woods but it didn’t play all that big of a role. I also found that Joe has a serious case of hero-worship. Ron can do nothing wrong. Everything is perfect, he knows just the right things to say and do and does everything exactly as Joe could want. He seemed a bit too good to be true and an idealized guy rather than a normal young man with some flaws. The ending also seemed a bit rushed, they go from never talking, to moving in together now that Ron’s parents know he’s gay and are making his life difficult. Whoosh. So while in general the story is cute with lots of frolicking in the woods naked and some kinky sex, I just kept thinking that Ron couldn’t be THAT great and that Joe was going to be disappointed along the way, although the tiny epilogue would lead me to believe I was wrong.

The most disturbing thing I learned in this book is that municipal solid waste makes up only 2% of the nation's waste. For the household waste that is collected, there is an additional 12 billion tons (for 2004) of nonhazardous INDUSTRIAL waste, mining, agricultural, and hazardous waste collected.
