Poor Chuck. He needs to either lay down the law with Doubleday or leave them. Cranking out a new book every year has obviously taken its toll on him. Dan Brown gets years between his books, why not Chuck too? I couldn't even finish this book it was so awful.

My second book by James Patterson and I was not disappointed in this one either. I have finally met Dr. Alex Cross. This book kept me guessing as to who was guilty. I could tell that there was a twist in this book but I wasn't able to figure it out right away. Alex Cross gets assigned to a kidnapping at an elite school in Washington DC even though he already has a case. It seems like a cut and dry case and that it could be solved quickly. That is not what happens. There are some many twists in this book that it kept me on my toes. I will be continuing this series.

This is probably one of the funniest books I have ever read (as a result, the movie was proportionately the biggest disappointment). It is still amazingly fresh all these years later. Nothing else by Heller is anywhere near as good, especially Closing Time, the 'sequel' to Catch 22 - don't even bother.

I could not put this book down. Buy it..you will not be dissapointed. Isabel Gillies starts by saying she is not a writer, but writes good emails. The story unfolds as if told to a confidant, and there are plenty of twists and turns that keep the story interesting. As a once divoriced mother of 2 small boys, I could relate completely to her fear and heartbreak, but also her steely will to continue on in life cheerfully and hopefully. This is a great read for anyone who is going thru or has gone thru divorice after marriage to a selfish, faithless man. If any woman out there is "the other" woman, here is an outline of the heartbreak you are causing not just the wife, but the children. The description of the college was interesting, but not to me any way important to the real story.

Beautifully and artfully rendered, Patti Smith describes the beauty in the sometimes grim life that she shared with Robert Mappelthorpe. They both shaped the others art, and she provides examples and refers to key influences at those times, and how they proved as a system of checks and balances for each other, becoming more than critics, but family to each other in a time when neither had one nearby and were trying to make their place in a less-than-friendly New York City. Especially poignant and beautifully wrought were the Hotel Chelsea days, when they had barely each other and art supplies, but still managed to make lovely memories that lasted a lifetime. Smith's writing remains lively and light, providing accurate comparisons and metaphors that prove to be a fitting tribute to an artist who struggled for everything that he had. A lovely and engaging tale of two people who loved each other in a spiritual way that transcended the physical.
