Probably King's best book ever, for sure one of his 3 best books.

I was surprised that I liked this one though still irritated that they're drawing out the Bonnie story still!

I think that 'Angel' by L.A. Weatherly is one of the best books I have ever read in my entire life! Not just because of the romance between Alex and Willow, but also the story line of it: how Willow thought she was just an ordinary girl, until she meets Alex where he tells her that she is a 'half human, half angel' but Alex never thought that that would be possible. Then they run away from the people (angels) who are trying to kill Willow and then that's where their romance begins!... <3 <3 Over all, I really recommend you to read 'Angel' if you like romance and a little bit of action, you won't regret it!

I don't like to read this book cover to cover because that's not the way it's supposed to. I like to read a couple of stories, let it rest and pick it again. It's dry, and sour, and bitter, and delicious.

An interesting plot but the writing is not great...a good book to pick up before taking a long trip, as I did.

An absolute MUST-READ for anyone is who pro-war for anything more than the last possible resort. Sledge's writing gave me chills, and made me question how well I would hold up under the stress we put our military fighting men and women through. His tales of both day to day bravery, as well as the total degradation of the Marines, as well as the blood-thirsty anger both sides felt for each other throughout the US war with Japan are generally terrifying. You can't help but feel for a man who was more terrified of having to watch his friends get injured or killed than with his own mettle under fire. Heart-wrenching, this book leaves grave questions that really deserve answers now that America has its soldiers flung to the far corners of the globe, some on (arguably) worth-while assignments against (arguably) worth-while foes, other engaged in that all time American past-time, nationbuilding in a part of the world that hates us (aka "Vietnam Pt. 2: Can You Call It A 'Quagmire' in the Middle of the Desert?")

Loved, loved, loved Shane and Tristan! So well written even with the ending from hell. So ready for the next one!

Roughly a 1000 pages of truly intensive coverage of the first part of the war, when the lines so dramatically moved back and forth. The US forces at the beginning had terrible leadership and were tossed about in small formations that were usually overrun. Very tragic. The coverage of the war once the stalemate set in is cursory. Ultimately, adequate forces are brought in, and better leadership too. But alarmingly, some cold war hawks argued for terrible ideas like using nukes and whatnot. The Pentagon is not a place to put blind faith into! This book is packed with detailed accounts of many heroic stands, and mind boggling accounts of bungling (and genius) in the hallowed halls of the upper command echelons. Truly an unbiased and objective look at a war too many people have ignored. (Nobody gets excited about a 'tie' game as it were). Very readable.
