Incredible, the book Sirena was absolutely wonderful. The overall story is like no other and all the detail and dialogue really made it stand out from other books. This book was so good that I had to read it again, and soon I will read it a third time.

یکی از بهترین رمان های گراهام گرین؛ که در "کورینتس"، شهری در شمال آرژانتین، نزدیک مرز پاراگوا رخ می دهد. "ادواردو پلار"، پزشک جوانی ست که در نوجوانی همراه مادرش به بوینس آیرس گریخته. پدر انگلیسی اش در پاراگوا مانده و خبری از او نشده. پلار با دو انگلیسی؛ معلمی تلخ به نام "همفری" و یک الکلی مطلقه به نام "چارلز فورتنوم" که عنوان کنسول افتخاری دارد، آشناست. پلار در فاحشه خانه ای شیفته ی دختری می شود که با مرد دیگری می رود. دو سال بعد، هنگام معالجه ی کلارا، همسر تازه ی آقای فورتنوم، حس می کند این همان دختر است. هم کلاسی های دوران مدرسه ی پلار، خبر می دهند که پدر او زنده است و در پاراگوا زندانی ست و از پلار می خواهند در ربودن سفیر آمریکا به آنها کمک کند تا سبب آزادی زندانیان سیاسی در پاراگوا، از جمله پدر پلار، شوند. اما گروه به اشتباه، کنسول افتخاری را می ربایند. پلیس به پلار مظنون می شود. به کنسول نیز، در حال فرار، شلیک می شود و امیدی به زنده بودنش نیست. پلیس کلبه را محاصره می کند، گروگان گیرها و پلار کشته می شوند... ئ فورتنوم که معالجه شده، به کلارا می پیوندد و.... برای شناخت شخصیت و آثار گراهام گرین، "مردی دیگر" اثر "ماری فرانسواز آلن"، توصیفی ست چند بعدی و گویا؛ مصاحبه ای روان شناختی در شناساندن نویسنده ای پیچیده و افسونگر. گویا این کتاب را خانم فرزانه ی طاهری به فارسی برگردانده. این برگردان را ندیده ام اما خواندن توام با دقت کتاب را به علاقمندان توصیه می کنم.

She is the Chosen Daughter of the Caelestis bloodline, one of seven pure bloodlines of vampires. Her blood brother Arkalus is the Chosen Son and longs to claim her as his own. Unlike the others of her bloodline Prophecy has never been given the chance to hunt but all this changes when one night she decides to sneak out of her family home to hunt, here she meets Valentine a high ranking member of the Aurorea bloodline. Everything in Prophecy tells her to run but instead she stands there to defend herself. Valentine bites her and sees vision of her future and from there everything Prophecy knows is about to change. Child of Light is an amazing book, F.E. Heaton has kept to the general vampire rules of not being able to go out in sunlight but the seven pure bloodlines when in vampire form all have eyes that change to the colour of their bloodline. For once it was nice that the main female character wasn't a damsel in distress, yes she has moments when she can whine like no other but at the end of the day Prophecy brings a true meaning to the words "Girl Power". Her situation in the book is hard shes different to everyone else but even when she is draining the life from her victims you still feel sorry for her. The character of Prophecy changes through out the book even though at first she seems scared she takes quite easily to her new life on the run with Valentine and grows more powerful and confident through out the book. The story of Prophecy and Valentine at times reminds me of Romeo and Juliet but instead of going through with their feelings they try so hard to stay loyal to their families but I guess in the end true love never dies. The tension in some chapters is immense and you find yourself sat there just hoping they will just get it over and done with and no matter how close they get to each other they just won't let themselves slip. I love the character of Valentine he pretty much is described as a knight in shining armour. He starts off as a complete hard ass who never shows any feelings, through the book he slowly starts to open up and his feelings come to light. But no matter what he wants nothing more than to protect Prophecy and help her follow her destiny. My only disappointment in this book is the sudden ending which leaves you wanting desperately to read the next one. The same happened through all the chapters though where the ending of one left you wanting to read the next. As with alot of Kindle books this one does have a few mistakes here and there but they are easy to look over. The general writing of the book is easy to follow and I love how F.E. Heaton describes the scenery of the places Prophecy finds herself enough for you to be able to feel like you are there aswell. Considering the story goes all over Europe this is definitely a good advantage in this book.

Designed for children and youth, this book was an easy read and reasonably entertaining for an adult as well. It would be a great story for kids to read and discuss in school. The themes of foster care, parents with illness or disabilities, friendship, loyalty and resourcefulness could serve to raise awareness of situations some peers are dealing with, and also an examination of the true meaning of friendship and family ties.

Theroux definitely relit that inner fire to grab my backpack and book a ticket to somewhere far away. Namely India and southeast Asia. His sentiments on travel in general are insightful and well articulated. There was no real climax to his story, but I'm not sure that element is really necessary here. As this is the first time I've read a non-fiction, first person narrative travel book, I'm not sure what the 'formula' is for this type of writing. Seeing as he's a best seller and published in many countries, I'm going to say he knows his craft and does it well.

I WOULD STAY UP ALL NIGHT READING AND WOULD WALK TO THE LIBRARY TO CHECK OUT THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES. I BECAME AN ADVID READER AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE.
