This is the second Jack Reacher novel I've read, and like the first one, not great literature, but a good read. Jack Reacher is an ex-military cop. He doesn't have a permanent address, and travels with a passport, a bank card, and .. that's about it. He doesn't like seeing people being treated unfairly or living in fear. And he likes even less retracing his steps. So when he's tossed out of Despair, Colorado on a trumped-up vagrancy charge, he sees red, and is determined to find out what's really going on there. Even after the authorities try, several times, to rough him up and get him out of their hair, he keeps going back. Eventually, he discovers several things are going on in Despair, most of which have to do with the war in Iraq in some way. With some politics and some conspiracy theories thrown in, this was a good story.

Great book of huge historical significance but it did bore me a bit in its repetitiveness. I am so glad she wrote this and got the ball rolling on the environmental movement but i can also understand her critics very well. I also found her full fledged support of non chemical means of pest control a little short sighted, introducing new pests to control the known pest or invasive species may help or wiping out an entire species in an area by introducing sterile males may not cause widespread problems like DDT treatment but will drastically disturb the biological imbalance that she discussed with chemical treatments too. Consequently I think her arguments, albeit valid, we're very biased

This book is about a girl who gets pregnant and she runs away to go to a home because her mom said if she ever got pregnant that she couldn't stay there. So the book is written in letter format about how she got to that place in her life. She writes the letter to her mom tell all of her feelings towards the things her mom did and how she was with boys. Then the other half of the book is about how her mom writes a letter to her about how she is sorry that she has screwed up and she wants things to be better between them. she ends up having the baby and the baby father isn't there but she learned a valueable lesson that you can't sit around and wait for people to change they have to change on their own.

Read this years ago. Didn't surprise me they'd make a movie but after killing Alan Moore's "Extraordinary League" movie with Sean Connery, Hollywood had to make amends and let the book speak for itself.

This was the perfect example of a smart read that was also an enjoyable one. I loved the informative bits about anti-corporate movements, veganism, pirates and code-making, much more so than when the narrator spent a lot of time in her head. Kind of self-congratulatory about its "otherness," but I have to give her points for actually having an alternative view point.

Bunun sevimli bir aşk hikayesi olacağını düşündüm. Öyleydi. Ama liseye çıkmanın dehşetine çok fazla zaman harcanmıştı (evden kovulmak vb. İle tamamlandı). Sanırım bundan böyle yazarlar sadece çok fazla drama yapabilen sevimli lezbiyen aşk hikayeleri yazmalılar ama lütfen "dünya acımasız ve homofobik bir yer" diye bir şey yok, çünkü sadece çok iç karartıcı.
