Read October 12, 2011. Re-read Feb 7, 2012. Really enjoyed this one. Excellent May-December story. I now have a better understanding of what it is like to be ADHD and it was a nice way to be educated.

In this book Ransom is sent to another world much different from the last. He is sent to a world where the human race is just starting out with a man and a woman much like Adam and Eve. And like on Earth, an evil force like Satan has come to tempt the woman. This is where I must say that even though the books in this trilogy are supposed to be just as great read separate from each other, you really do need to read the first book (Out of the Silent Planet) to fully understand Ransom’s decision making in this book. There were many times I felt that C.S. Lewis' genious was lost on me. I'd read a paragraph (the paragraphs are really long) and think there must be so much intended for me to understand and think about that I missed. I might have to read this one again. Makes me wonder how everything really went down for our first parents and what the FULL conversation between Eve and Lucifer was like. I also wonder how things would have gone if Eve had not partaken of the forbidden fruit.

Really, really enjoyed this book. I won't spoil the story by revealing what it's about, but it's for anyone who enjoys sci-fi, nostalgia, mystery, and thought-provoking novels that are dark, deliberate, and haunting. (I cried more than a few times in this book, so be forewarned.)

I just finished Keef's memoir. It is easy to assume that these Rock Star books are actually the work of a ghost writer. However, in this case, the story is so personalized that I find it hard to believe anyone other than Keith was at the wheel. I wasn't as impressed as I was with Ozzy Osbourne's autobiography, but the book was a very enjoyable ride. It made me go back and listen to the Stones catalog again.

Granted I started reading this series a good 5 years after it had completed its run, but still, finishing this final volume knowing there's no more to come makes me sad. I can only reenter the City now by rereading previous volumes (which I'm sure I'll do). Everything about this series is perfect. The thoroughly-imagined world, the incomparable Spider Jerusalem, the harsh satire, and the punch-you-in-the-nuts art. Ellis turned journalism into an action movie.
