So far it has been a very interesting read. It is somewhat depressing as it deals with a very sad subject of the Holocaust. It helps one gain a greater perspective on the events that occured and how ordinary middle-aged men became the mass-murderers that all hear about.

Book #37 This is my first non-fiction book this year. This was a good book. The author has some pretty funny observations on the bible and the way people adhere to it. He also does some pretty humourous things to follow all of the biblical rules, like dropping a pebble on the shoe of an adulterer since it's not exactly legal to stone one anymore. I think my favorite part was when Julie sat in every single chair in the apartment when he couldn't touch her for being "unclean". But this book also made me realize why I don't read a lot of non-fiction, no plot. It was a good read and funny, but man it took me forever to finish it. Borrowed from Lara.

I found this book to be so fun and entertaining! I find this one of my favorite books that I have read because of its good humor and attention grabbing story line. I have to say that Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorite authors because of her fun books that I seem to always enjoy reading. A romance between Samantha and a man she meets while in the middle of nowhere really grabbed my attention; I could not put the book down. I find it amusing that this lawyer who works in London becomes a housekeeper and learns to do things she never knew how to do before.

I loved this book. I read it twice in one month. The portions in which she discussing big wave surfing were riveting to me...her portrait of Laird Hamilton and the other surfers were so compelling. I felt the book dragged a bit when she delved into the science of big waves, but that could be because I am more in to people than I am in to things. :-) Regardless, this book was A. MAZE. ING. Loved it.

Many years ago when I grew all of our own vegetables I used companion planting. I got away from having a garden but feel it is time again to embark on sustainability. I have forgotten much of how to companion plant so this book certainly gave me a flashback and brought into light much of what I have forgotten. Although it takes time upfront to plan out the garden plot or the container assembling it is worthwhile. You will find that your plants will flourish but even more so the need for insecticides or pesticides will be nonexistent. In fact, with companion planting many good and necessary insects and garden creatures will be attracted. One of my favorite herbs is dill. Not only is it easy to grow it is a good planting companion to cabbage and lettuce by "improving the plants' health and growth, and does well beside onions, sweet corn, and cucumbers." On the other hand dill shouldn't be planted by carrots because it will diminish the yield. As well, putting dill beside tomatoes will attract tomato horn worms. Dill repels aphids and spider mites but attracts butterflies, bees, and predatory wasps. Information about companions is of utmost importance to anyone that is planning on gardening or is in the midst but having issues with low yield and pests. Learning the tools in this book beforehand will being you much satisfaction in harvesting and consuming your own fruits and vegetables. I encourage you to invest in this book - you will not regret it.
