One of those books that moved me to tears.... I keep seeing this *chick lit* thing.... I don't have a clue what that is, but as I have seen Alexandra Potter and Reilly categorized as it, it must be good.... If you are a single mum, you'll love this book. I did.

I am currently reading book 4 in this series and so I’ve got to quickly write this review before I get any further in the book lest I confuse myself with both plots. Tom Ward continues his apprenticeship under the current Spook. The seasons are passing quickly and with the approach of winter, the Spook moves to his desolate winter home. Without much ado, they find themselves battling a boggart that nearly kills the Spook. Luckily, Alice manages to save the day once more time. Also, there is some trouble with the lamia witches that the Spook keeps in the house. One, Meg, he keeps controlled by means of a tea that prevents her from remembering who she is and the other, her sister, he keeps locked in a pit in his cellar along with some other disgusting creatures. Finally, one of his former failed apprentice’s seeks to gain an evil power and tries to use Tom to aid him in this quest. I feel like this wasn’t as good as the other two books I’ve read because it lacked a strong storyline. Instead, it felt more like three unrelated smaller storylines were just bundled up together to make one book. Find my review on the next book in this series here: Attack of the Fiend

densely written. a lot of information to take in. was reading it on the train on the way home from work. could have gotten through faster if i'd really commited to it. but isn't that always the way would reccomend "what to eat" for a lighter read with a lot of the same important information. she refers to 'food politics' several times in 'what to eat'. good read, but glad i finally finished it.
