Rating 2.5 Pride and Prejudice turned out to be a decent read about halfway through the book. For me, Mr. Darcy's profession of love to Elizabeth was the novel's turning point. Blame it on the the romantic in me because that seems to be when the action started. I now have to agree with my Nerdy Book Club family that Mr. Darcy is the best book boyfriend ever. Favorite line: "Mr. Darcy sends you all the love in the world that he can spare from me" (287).

Heller had the daunting task of living up to Catch-22 when he wrote this book. He was essentially competing with himself and I must say he lost -- the second time around. I enjoyed this book but Catch-22 is a far superior book.

This is one of the best books that I ever read!!! I enjoyed this semi-biographical, part fictional, account of Jack's life. In my opinion this book was a lot more interesting than On The Road. Which I never finished. I wish that they had this book for the nook, and then I would probably read it again. The style of this book reminds me a lot of one of the books I'm reading now "A Separate Reality" by Carlos Castaneda. Don't know when I read this book it was several, at least 20 years ago back when I was in college. But this is a book that I would definitely recommend to anybody.

This book is so good. I've read it twice now. The first time I listened to it and the second time I read it in paper. I recommend reading it both ways. I feel like I absorbed more detail reading it in paper, but listening to it was great too. It was especially useful in hearing how all those German words were pronounced. I don't need to give you a summary of the plot - you can get that anywhere. I will just say that as much as I love to read, it's not very often that I read a 550 page book in 5 days. It's not often that I think about a book when I'm not reading it. It's not often that a book makes me stay up late at night because I've lost all track of time. You should read it.

Riveting. I've always loved stories set in the 1800's. The characters are distinctive, resembling Gossip Girl in the previous era. Gossip cluttered, beautiful high society ladies, dashing men, naughty secrets. I loved it. Penelope is like Blair, but with more sneaky ways and negative thoughts in mind. Elizabeth, my favorite character, is Serena. Lina is more like Jenny, and Diana is a breath of fresh air. Not to compare between the two, but the similarity is quite striking, although I prefer this short series. I don't really like the writing style of Gossip Girl series, but I like Miss Godbersen's descriptions and how the story unfolds. Will look forward to the rest of the books. Oh. I haven't even read The Luxe, but Rumors lets me know enough gossips to let me grasp the whole story in one quick read.

** spoiler alert ** Alright, so let's start with the negative. Neferet's still alive. Heath's coming back. Fun. I really, really hope they kill Neferet in the next book. I mean, come on, it's been eight books already they really haven't even tried to kill her! I'm getting really annoyed. I think P.C. and Kristin could've come up with something better for these books than a recycled storyline of Zoey & the gang against Neferet in every single book! Then we have Kalona and who knows what they'll have him up to in the last few books. And of course, Heath's coming back. Great. Granted he is going to be a vessel but still, I think he'll turn to Zoey's side real fast. Awesome. Not. I was really hoping we could have Heath kinda stay to the sidelines for a while but obviously not. Overall though, this book was pretty good. Jack's death was sad, and his character will be very missed. I'm looking forward to see what they come up with for the next book!
