I am not a Freudian, but his is the father of modern psychology so he earned a second star. It's good background knowledge, like the King James Bible, but not entirely apllicable to modern day society when taken in context. I'm an Adlerian, especially when it comes to dream interpretation.

Although this book seems childish from the cover and description, I was thoroughly surprised. It is the perfect "kids book for adults." It isn't heavy literature that will make it to the classic shelves but it is a wonderfully inventive story and my only complaint is how large it is to carry in a purse. Moers has a brilliant imagination and although kids might enjoy parts of it, there are many chapters that would be far over their heads. Perfect to read in a crowded place where you can afford to be distracted but still enjoy it.

Just reread for a book club. Makes me reevaluate how much I loved "the things they carried".

I will always be a fan of anything that can be labeled "epic", especially when it combines religion, mythology, and all my other favorite subjects in one mighty poem.

It's a good book, but based on the show...the show is better.

I didn't love the first book in the very popular Charlie Bone series as much as I thought I would... found it a little slow. Having said that, I think Daniel would like it and will not give up my efforts to try and get him to read it. Maybe I just need to leave it in his room... The gist of the story: a boy discovers he has the power to hear people in photographs. At the same time, he comes into possession of a mysterious box that he can't open, but which everyone seems to want to get their hands on. He is packed off to a school for other people who have special abilities, only to learn that the box and the school are both more dangerous than he anticipated!

Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" (also known as "Ten Little Indians",)is a great who done-it mystery. Ten unacquainted people are lured by various pretexts to Indian Island off the coast of Devon. Where they are promptly accused by their unseen host of having escaped punishment for past crimes. The island is cut off from any communication from the mainland. One by one they are killed of just as a nursrey rhyme is quoted. There are ten figurines that are broken as each person is murdered. It stands to reason that one of them is the murderer...but which one? I have read this book time and a gain and it still keeps my interest.

Reread in 2014 Original Review Below from Feb 20, 2011 It took so long for this book to come out! And it took me such little time to read it. It's almost unfair. It was a much darker book than the rest, save for maybe First Rider's Call, but then again Karigan's world is on the brink of war so you cant really expect it to be a bright and cheery read. I read whole the book within 48 hours and I have to say the ending was awful for me. It just ended! Right in the middle of a scene it felt like to me. So now I am forced to wait until the next book to find out what happens. I am not the waiting type. My least fav words are "To be continued." There is a scene in the book that is causing a small uproar amongst the readers and while I cannot say I enjoyed the scene I understand the point of it. It was in no way unnecessary. it was a cause of the political maneuverings we were not supposed to like and it is a fine example of the evil behind the politics of the main conspirator. I eagerly await the next book in the series, and unlike many of the people who complained that it took 3 years for this book to come out, omg how can I be forced to wait so long on the whims of a writer!?!, I will wait(maybe not patiently) as long as need be for the next installment. It should prove to be worth the wait if this book is to be an example.
