I read this while in China and that made the book for me. I love the different perspectives from the 8 mother/daughter narrators. I love learning more about the Chinese culture. I am glad this book exists.

With his Zen master image, he quickly wins first the curiosity and then the love of the girl of his dreams and the admiration/jealousy of his classmates. But how long can he keep his Zen lies going before the non-Zen truth is revealed? And just how much will his lies cost him? In the end, here is one question readers might ask: "Is it easier to act like someone we're not or to just to be who we really are?" As many students know, the answer isn't as obvious as it may seem. Personally, I thought "Zen and the Art of Faking It" was a good story but "Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie" was a GREAT STORY! In fact, it is exactly because Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie was SO good that I wasn't as impressed as I read through Zen and the Art of Faking It. Still, author Jordan Sonnenblick is a promising writer for today's student readers: quick-witted, fast-paced and full of laughs. While he can come across as a bit corny at times, he does seem to understand many of the challenges middle school students face in their daily lives. He is also able to take many of those not-so-fun problems (dealing with school work, teachers, parents, divorce, crushes, etc.) and turn them into fun-to-read stories.

This was my Book Club book for Feb. I read just for escape/fun, and I enjoyed this mystery - could have rated it higher. Some of the author's descriptions were a little odd, and I would have liked it better if she had developed some of her characters more (. . . You know how I like a good romance!), but I liked it and would recommend it.

From the moment I saw this book, I was instantly drawn towards it. I loved everything about this book! Mercy, has this ability of 'soul-jacking' a person and has no control in it. she has a new life, a new body, a new place with mo previous memories. The only thing which is constant in her life is the dreams where is meets Lucifer, her beloved, her other half. One day she maybe in control of a body of a teenager who is a drug addict with a baby and an abusive boyfriend to a someone else. she tried to make the situation around her better and help the person to a better life. She also has this ability ; when she touches a person she immediately see's their thoughts, feelings and everything which has happened to them. So the next time she wakes she is in the body of a girl named Carmen who has just arrived in Paradise for a music exchange program. she stays with the Daley's whose daughter Lauren was mysteriously kidnapped out of her room and never found. Ryan Daley, Lauren's twin has never stopped searching for her, has never given up hope. Soon Mercy determines too that Lauren is still alive and she with him search for her. I can easily see a love triangle between Ryan, Mercy and Lucifer and I so want to know what's gonna happen in the future. I loved the ending of this book, It made me earn to read the next book in the series Exile as soon I can.

I read this a long time ago so I do not remember much at all. My Grandma bought this book for me at a yardsale it was good but I don't remember much about it. So I can't really review it very well. I think younger girls would like this, great read a-loud for parents.
