Unbelievable book. Certainly had disturbing moments that made me put down the book and take a break, but overall it was an impressive read. You get an insight into Afghan culture and history and gain a better understanding of what life may have been like under the Taliban regime.

After the last two it was a little disappointing, and I felt like it dragged on a lot. During this book, I actually felt a lot of emotion towards characters and stuff, which hasn't happened too often lately with this series. I still hope the next one is the final one, but overall this was much better than Tempted and Burned were. (At least in my opinion.)

I randomly picked this book up at the library and am so glad I did. The story is about a college student is hired to transcribe the diary of a girl accused of being a witch during the Salem witch trials. Of course, the diary is fictional, but the historical events surrounding it are real and factual, although presented in a way that is very real and moving. The author of the diary, the college student and the 80 year old woman who owns the diary are all interwined and learn a very important life lesson. Very readable prose. Very clever intermixing of themes......it's like a love story/historical fiction/introspective work all in one.

The giver is a book based on the idea of a utopian society, where everyone is told what to do and does it the same way. Personally I was not a huge fan of the book because there was no freedom in it, the people each do the same thing like when they each get a bike at the age of 9. Then suddenly jonas's life changed when he was selected to be the receiver of the town, a very rare job with vigorous training and the job to store the memories of the past in his head. But a problem arises as a little boy named Gabriel (problem child) can not sleep at the nursery and after jonas builds a relationship with him they say they are gonna release him which actually means to kill him. To find out what Jonas is going to do you will have to read the book.
