Was an interesting book... an eye opener to other meditation methods and views on God... hard to get past it a little as I didn't agree with the writer... but admit it was a good book for a woman's journey to finding herself.

Nothing if not resilient, Celia Graves is slowly adjusting to being a half-human, half-vampire Abomination. But her troubles are far from over. Her best friend''s murder is still unsolved, the cops are convinced she should be in jail, and her old lover, the magician Bruno DeLuca, has resurfaced in her life, saying he has something important to tell her. The vampire attack that transformed Celia kicked her latent Siren abilities into high gear, and now she''s been summoned to the Sirens'' island to justify her existence--and possibly fight for her life--in front of the Siren Queen. Celia isn''t sure she''ll survive to make the trip. The demon she defeated in Blood Song hasn''t exactly gone quietly--he''s left Celia suffering from a powerful curse.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a very easy read, and I found myself quickly engrossed in it.

Middlemarch is a kind of Victorian coming-of-age novel, only much more complex; its sundry characters wrestle with a variety of issues, the most prevalent being class and gender proscriptions. In addition, there is a second, more self-conscious level in the narrative that addresses overarching questions of authenticity and performativity in the context of the tenuous distinction between reality and artifice. Elliot is a brilliant literary portraitist and through her unflinching analysis of her characters' many flaws, lays bare the tragic comedy of human existence from which some find redemption while others flounder by the wayside. My only criticism of the novel is that Dorothy Brooks and Will Ladislaw's relationship is inexplicably upbeat and doesn't fit in well with the overall pragmatic geist of the narrative; ultimately their love affair comes across as a tacky and contrived ideal. In spite of that one problem, this is an unquestionable masterpiece (of course a thousand others have already made this observation) and should be read by anyone who's serious about writing and/or studying literature. The Norton edition provides meticulous explanatory footnotes that makes the novel a lot more approachable. In addition, this publication appends a brief compilation of prevalent criticism for those interested in further analysis.

I really wanted to like this one more but I don't. And I'm debating if it even should get 2 stars. Sarah's story was so interesting. I wish the author had just stuck to her and cut the whole Julia story. Julia's story was so mundane, predictable, and flat...it was like the plot for a really bad chick flick with Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock or some other equally lame adorable actress. I found it so tedious that I skipped a few of the Julia chapters. So then when Sarah's story ends, I bascially had to bribe myself to finish. (Yeah for the pedicure! Boo for this book.) Finally, I also thought the ending was completely forced and cheesy. I am not great at predicting endings and I love a good surprise. So the fact that I guessed the name of the girl's name well before the end, I was just annoyed. Did the author think it would be some sigh-worthy moment when at last reveals her name and therefore waited until the end? WRONG! Overall, I'm glad that the book was short.

With hearing in the news about global warming, shift in polar ice caps and 2010, this book makes one wonder about our future survival as a human race. Scenarios seemed a little far fetched, but so did cell regeneration of body parts 10 years ago.

I love this book a little bit of a twist than what I'm used to with King but this one was great. I actually was crying because of the raw emotion that I felt connected me with Lisey. A very good twisted type of love story. Thank You Constant Author!!

The Submission, with characters flawed with hubris, ignorance, and blind will, brilliantly exemplifies a time immortalized by fear of the unknown. Post 9/11, that fear led to wanton prejudice, and injustice towards many U.S. citizens; such discriminations were welcomed, and even understood by some of those bearing the brunt of such actions. This dichotomy is displayed through the realistic emotions wrought in the book, evoking, I'm sure, differing opinions in each who reads it.
