I bought this because it was $1.99 for a Kindle download. This was soooo good. It's the first in a series, which is about to be turned into a TNT drama this summer. It had suspense. It builds relationships, both romantic and work-related. All loose ends are tied up. It gives you all you could want. I loved it so much, I'm moving on to the 2nd book. The series is called Rizzoli and Isles. Isles, a forensic pathologist, is not a character yet in this book. Rizzoli, a homicide detective, plays a major part, but she is not the central figure. This first book, if I had to compare, would be a cross between "Silence of the Lambs" and "CSI" mixed with a little cop drama and a splash of hospital trauma. Just read it! It's a page turner. Warning: "The Surgeon" might not be for the faint at heart. Maybe I'm a little sick myself, because these sort of books do not affect me.

The story dragged on too long in this book. It's funny because I just listened to a Nora Roberts book that I thought the same thing about. The story really takes a twist to become gay vs fundamentalist Christian and I think the church 'arguments' in the trial just wore on me because I do not share a thing in common with those beliefs. I don't think this book is for everyone and I'm not even sure if I would recommend it.

I loved loved loved this book!!! When I first saw it at the book store I wasn't sure that i wanted to read it, but then I saw the preview for the movie and I decided that i wanted to read the book before the movie came out. It was sooo good that I finished it within 3 days. The story is about a girl named skeeter who just graduated from Mississippi and moves home and wants to become a writer. An editor at a publishing company tells her that she should write about stuff that bothers her and she decides to write about the way that blacks maids are treated in the south. The story is told from 3 points of a view, skeeters and minny's (a black maid) and abileen's (another maid). I don't want to get into too much detail because I hate when I already know the ending to a book before I even begin reading it. But I think this is a great read for anyone.

I marked this as read, but that's a lie. Sorry Bridget, you know you should move on to a different book after you've fallen asleep when reading in the afternoon... three times. I liked this book so much in theory, but it was so mindbogglingly boring. The author took at least 50 pages to explain what could have been accomplished in less than 10. I don't want to soil the good name of Pulitzer, but this is the 3rd Pulitzer Prize winning book I've read, and I've had the same experience with all three. I'm giving up.

Stupid manga historical account of Hiroshima. This the 2nd volume deals with the kid-hero, Gen, on the day after the bombing. You could more or less remove the whore bombing thing and have the same comic book; Makazawa seems to just ad images of people's skin melting off periodically to give the manga the disguise of literary value.
