This series will keep me reading...it's not my most favorite. It's a pretty basic story where each of the stories all interlink, but are different. It's family members of the night world that fall in love with mortals, who are their soulmates, but have to keep it secret are else they are in danger of being killed by the elders of the nightword.

The movie was SO much better than the book. If I had read the book before seeing the movie I never, and I mean never, would have watched the movie. The book was awful.

An amazing story, and Hillenbrand does a wonderful job telling it. To sum it up, it’s about a borderline delinquent teenager being saved when his brother gets him involved in running. He has great success in track, then WWII comes along and instead of heading to the 1940 Olympics, he’s off to the US air corp. He crashes in the Pacific, almost dies while drifting in the ocean, then is captured by the Japanese and goes through horrible experiences as a POW. Coming back after the war he eventually turns to alcohol to drown out his nightmares and needs saving again. This time he’s saved by turning to Christ. I recommend this book for just about anyone. A few other random thoughts sparked by this book: 1) I guess in some parts of the world, shark fin soup is really popular. It drives animal-rights activists crazy because everything but the fin of the shark is wasted and it’s bad for shark populations. After reading this book, you’ll probably have as much success convincing me to save sharks as you would trying to get me to save rats infested with the bubonic plague. (Not really—I like the sharks at the local aquarium, I just never want to met any in the wild, ever.) 2) I’ve long held the opinion that the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki actually saved lives (American and Japanese) by bringing the war to an end before the planned invasion of Japan. This book didn’t alter that opinion at all.

Just finished rereading this in my project to read all HP1-HP6 before starting on #7, the Deathly Hallows. Still lots of fun. Doesn't seem very complicated, and when people start collecting clues to try to figure out how it's going to end, I don't think they start in this book. But it's still very enjoyable. I wish I were better at reading dialogue in my head with a British accent!

I really enjoyed this book. It had many of the elements I loved about the first, with the romance and the rescuing and the supernatural, etc. Basic plot--the Cullens skip town due to a stressful blood-exposure incident, and Bella's heart is broken. She goes zombie for a few months, and then she starts getting close to Jacob Black. And man, I was actually rooting for the two of them to get together in the middle, there. But nothing's ever normal for Bella, and Jacob is not an exception. Then everything goes to hell when Bella decides to go cliff diving and the Cullens make their reappearance. Very exciting.

One of the first (if not the first) of the Fallen Angel series, and it was a clear reminder of why I like MJ Putney so much. Despite the unlikelihood of a methodist woman falling so swiftly for the gypsy rake, the story is well-told and exciting. Ok, so I did guess the secret about Nikki's previous marriage, but it was fun having my suspicions confirmed.

Following the twists and turns of who's stabbing whom in the back gets tricky, but I have to admit, I'm a sucker for the game of "spot the historical/mythological reference" and I absolutely loved playing it in this one. XD The detail and depth of the history is amazing! And I got attached to quite a few of the characters - well - okay, mostly Else, Osa Stile, and Grade Drocker.
