So this book was decent. I found that some of the transitions in the book were very distracting and very frustrating, which is the reason I gave it 3 stars. But the book in all was very good. Auden was a character that I kept getting annoyed with, and yet I still could relate with her and the ways she goes about living her life. I especially love Auden's relationship with her new born baby stepsister. Eli is a character I loved from the beginning of the book. He's not complicated and does not over share his emotions. or back story. Auden's parent's make me want to freak out though. I know they are like geniuses, but they kind of are the most rude/mean people ever ( I know, I'm very articulate). The best part of the entire book was the end though. I absolutely loved the end. It's a feel good happy ending that really did make me go to sleep smiling last night. Really enjoying this book -- I thought it would be slow, moving back into the middle ages, but instead this is really fast moving, exciting and interesting. I keep wondering how this woman kept herself hidden for all these years, and how in the world she managed to keep herself alive. Every other chapter, I'm wondering how she isn't dead yet. But she's smart, inventive, misses nothing -- and she's close-mouthed and shy. (A lot like me!) Great writing, interesting medieval perspective. I just hope she stays alive to the end of the book! This book overall was just mesmerizing. The stoy was really ingeniously plotted -- I absolutely loved the brilliant suspense!

Simply, surprisingly, subtly marvelous. Quickly rose to the ranks of one of my favourite books - cannot wait to reread.

Just when I thought I had a handle on this book, it morphed into something different. And, then it did it again, each time becoming all the more compelling. It was only when I finished the whole thing that I really appreciated the mastery of all of this. The Gone-Away World is one of those rare books. It's hilarious, yes and smart, but it also has a huge heart. And it's got Ninjas. What more could you want from a book?

a rabbit wishes he had a car that would bring him really far electric or gas which one to choose either or? win or lose! so after much thinking and some comparing he settles for a bike in exchange for his trike after rabbit solved his dilemma he now wants to name the fella! this short illustrated book has nice rhymes which inspired me to write some as well - a fitting summary for a book that's supposed to be for kids from ages 2 to a 102. as a bonus, the author has included 5 pages of black and white illustrations that can be printed out for coloring. for something that did not cost a dime* this book was quite worth my time! read it to your kids out loud or let them do it and be proud! *If I Had A Car is free from Amazon.

This made over dissertation looks in depth at Sulla. While it makes a few interesting conjectures about Sulla's psychology, and the reasoning behind some of his actions, and has one or two pearls, this book was mostly a let down. The only real interesting point I found was that Sulla wasn't the first to fully exploit Marius's army reforms, he was really the first to bring the army into the political sphere at Rome. Finding similarities in the story line between Sulla's march on Rome, his rise to the dictatorship, and the justifications provided by C. Julius Caesar made this book at least worth a look, as most books I have read about Caesar do not make explicit the fact that he used many of the same justifications for marching on Rome as Sulla had done some 30 years before.

#2 in the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. Whimsical, amusing, and clean. Easy-reading but in a lighthearted and not stupid way. Delightful.

Loved this book and a quick read. My favorite part is from John 13:22-24 22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.” I love how Brennan notices John resting his head on Jesus's shoulder and the closeness he feels to Him. How I finally get portions of that concept! I have always enjoyed John and crack up when he says things like, you know, the disciple that got to the tomb first. Or when he says, the disciple whom Jesus loved. Now I realize that he just got it. He wasnt saying it as if he was the one Jesus loved and the rest were a bit further away. He just knew it for himself. He knew it in his core and that's what enables him to draw near to his chest.
