This was a pleasant surprise. I had expected a nice ghost story, which I got! Sort of reminiscent of DuMaurier's Rebecca... But I also got beautiful fields of Provencal lavender and stories of how the flowers were distilled to make perfume... neat twist to the story - all-around good read!

Another one of those DIFFICULT decisions between 3 and 4. I finally settled on 4 because I kept waiting and waiting for the miserable tragedy similar to Hardy's Tess of D'urberville's. But, in my opinion, it never came, and I really liked that. You have to just slow down, exhale, and realize his writing is very detailed - that's just his style - but the story line is truly engaging (okay, it's romance and even the back cover says 3 guys ask the same girl to marry them!) and the character development I loved. For a fiction, I thought there was only one place that was uncharacteristically trite, relative to the rest of the book. But, in retrospect, maybe it had to happen that way. It's a classic which I can substantiate being a classic - unlike others. I think it'd be a good book club book, but I'm not in a book club. ENJOY!

Christian family romance. This book is full of the struggles that threaten to destroy her characters, like all of her others. Unrealistic characters, situations & resolutions. Still...it is uplifting, and while it may antagonize unbelieving realists, it deserves accolades for its clean language & moral message. I'm probably through reading this author. All 3 of the books, form different series, are essentially the same.

String jazz, guitar as a lead instrument, and music as we hear and appreciate it would not have developed the way it all has without Django.
