this wasn't as captivating as Assasination Vacation (but then, what is?) but had some high points. Vowell really does best when she digs in deep, and the short story somehow falls just a touch short. Still love her style though, so 4 stars will have to do.

I read this last night, and today and it was an amazing book. I cried, and I have never cried while reading before. Ever. I always felt bad for Steve during the book, because his daughter who he never sees ditches him the whole summer for a boy. Yeah, she ends up falling in love with the boy, but she should have spent more time with her dad, because she didnt know he had cancer, which he ends up dying to at the end...after ronnie avoids him all summer. I thought it was great how they connected at the end, but it was too late.. & I thought that it really taught me about spending time with family, and no matter how much time you spend with someone it will never seem like enough. I have never really thought this much into a book, but it just spoke to me about how you should appreciate and love your family, regardless because they are your family, and they aren't always going to be there. It was a good book overall, I really liked how Ronnie and Will connected, and how his rich parents resented her, but they found a way to get through it.

This is my favorite of the series so far, Laurel seems less wet, slightly less self absorbed and more a character I can identify with. Supporting characters are more realistic, the pacing seems good although it's slow, but this is not an action adventure novel.I will read the next one because I want to know how things resolve themselves for Laurel, Tamani, David and Chelsea.

This book is the Third and the last book in the best selling "Millenium Trilogy" by swedish writer Stieg Larsson. When Lisbeth "Sally" salander is hospitalized after being shot by her Father and buried alive by her half brother Ronald Niederman (end of the second book "The girl who palyed with fire"). She has no access to contact with the world outside... Journalist Mikael blomkvist trying hard to prove that salander is just a victim of the high-level espionage ,involving "Sapo" Sweden's security police . Blomkvist convinces Salander's doctor, Dr. Anders Jonasson, to return her Palm Tungsten T3. Blomkvist arranges to have a phone placed in a duct leading to Salander's room, allowing her to access the Internet and communicate. Together with Dragan Armasnky, and people who care and believe that salander is not guilty also after involving Säpo Constitutional Protection Director Torsten Edklinth which finally get approval from Prime Minister and Minister of Justice to do a fully investigation. With the evidence and credibility of the prosecution shattered, the prosecutor drops all charges against Salander. It is very exciting to know how they work together to gathered information. How the hacker doing to get the confidential information from the computer of Dr teleborian or from the computer of Richard Ekstrom the prosecutor. The story also has a romantic part when blomkvist find that he is in love with one of the police officer whose working to help him in the investigation. This trilogy is worth to read..especially because this is the last novel of the writer, Stieg Larsson. He died on November 2004 and left behind manuscripts of three completed but unpublished novels in a series. This Millenium Series (1) The Girl with the Dragon tatoo (2) The girl who played with fire and (3) The girl who kicked the honest net.
I was hooked on the first page. Interesting to read about the rich and famous, but worked her butt off since she was 16 years old, and hardly got a dime when her wealthy dad died. Easy, fast read, and very interesting!

I loved this book. it was appropriate for women and men. Reveals the true meaning of a family. And love. I wasn't sure how good it would be, but was floored. i absolutely adored this book. The plot may be simple, but i think the simplicity worked with the flow of the book and the setting.

Really good! This trilogy really could have been one long book. The first book was mostly set up, (certainly not boring though), the second book was the climax, and the third book was the happy ending. The books have a very heavy on the gospel message. These books do a very good job of educating about controversial topics without detracting form the plot or making you feel like the book is dragging. Also the amount of gory details, or lack of them was quite refreshing. The author gives you a through picture of the crime scene without the painful details of other CSI type books that I have read. That said I still wouldn't recommend these books to young readers. For example the second book talks a lot about euthanasia and there is a recurring theme of alcohol and depression. (That review was kind of more about the trilogy than this one book. Oh, well).

This was a beautiful and interesting story to read and I totally loved it. There were a few parts that were difficult to read (describing disturbing situations), but on the whole, the characters and plot were inventive and fresh and it was very immersive.
