Someone just bought me a new copy of this awesome book. My original copy was loaned out and never returned, I don't even remember who I loaned it to, I loaned this book out a lot. Even though it's a 11 years old (ancient in the technology world, though UNIX itself is pushing 40) it's still a entertaining introduction to UNIX. It's not very often that you'll see entertaining and UNIX used in the same sentence, enjoy it. I don't know where I'd be today if I'd never read this book. I'd be happy to loan it to you, if you promise to give it back.

The first novel is a great re-working of the dragon story: filled with the naval milieu of the time, at least 2-d characters, and some wonderful action. Books 2 and 3 are fine but lack the vim and vigor of the first.
