Recently (as of early July 2009) reread this and definitely got more out of it the second time. I love how Vonnegut weaves the war story with sci-fi elements and his own struggles with being a writer. This is so much more than an anti-war book. It's really an accurate account of how we continually struggle to find the meaning to our lives, whether we're in a war or not. Slightly depressing, but very moving, in that oh so unique Vonnegut-esque way. So it goes.

I have to admit, I wanted to read this book because of the movie "You've Got Mail"! I know, kind of a lame reason to read a classic. But I really enjoyed reading this book, I didn't want it to end. A wonderful love story.

When I first read this, I was indifferent to it, but kept plugging through because it was for a Lit class. However, as I got to the end and begin thinking about this book as a book and not an assignment, the more I appreciated it.

A good golem story set in Ireland. A lonely boy meets a new boy in town and the two of them fashion a golemn and imbue it with magic. The other boy wants to golem to do evil things while the main character struggles with the morality of what he's done. A good novel that doesn't get much attention from teens.

This book was definitely one of the best books i have ever read. EVeryone kept saying how great the book was and how great the movie was but I never believed them. Well, i was completly wrong. This book is awesome!! The chracters are so original and really cute. Who would ever have thought that a vampire would fall in love with a girl who was that clumsy. Bella can trip over anything and nothing. I'm not sure how you trip over air but it was really funny. Edward had the perfect personality for the perfect boyfriend. Who wouldn't want a boyfriend who would be there to save you whenever you need him. Of course not everyone is a danger magnet like Bella. Overall this book was one of the best page turners I have ever read. It mixed romance and action really well. This book not only drew women in because of the romantic parts, but it also drew in guys because there were fight scenes that really caught people's attention. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a thriller. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.:)

I wanted to love this book. As a long time vegan, one of the few animal foods I still occasionally miss is cheese, especially sharp cheddar cheese. Unfortunately, all vegan cheeses I've tried, including the recipes in this book, don't taste anything like the "real thing" to me. At least they tried, and I know some people who have really enjoyed the recipes. Also, a lot of vegan cheese recipes seem to call for mustard (a food I don't like at all and can taste in food even in tiny amounts), and mustard is not in many of the recipes in this book, so I appreciate that.

Darkly funny, though heavier on the dark than the funny. A bit as if Flannery O'Connor got drunk on ouzo with a bunch of gypsies and then decided to write a Greek Winesburg, Ohio while still hung over. I really liked the first story, which was almost novella length; the shorter ones that followed were a little hit and miss. Karnezis seemed very interested in the intersection between modernity and traditional village life, though he seems to find them equally depressing. There's a fablesque tone to most of the stories, although they're fables lacking a moral. A good read for a bad mood.
