Good. Repetitive and dumbed down for the general public, but good. I liked the premise and the fact that the ending left things open. Not a new concept, but still enjoyable.

this book is a real page-turner. I got involved with the characters and the suspense. The basic premise - a boy tracking down the history of the author of a book he loves and then the parallels to his life.

pardon my language, but this book is a little confusing. i mean its even written like 3 things at a time. you can read the top of the page or the middle or another part. god, how post structural. on the other hand, its got important stuff. i just think it would help to present it in a more accessible way.

No, my rating is not 5/5 stars, but.. I have no idea how to rate Forever, because my feelings are seriously ambivalent and I'm still trying to recover from everything that's been said and done and thought and not said and not done and.. Well, hell. Seriously, I don't think you'll have the same problems if you're family is rather 'sane' (haha), although it's possible that the things that's been implicitely said in Forever just apply to almost everyone, so.. But I found myself crying over so many things while reading it and Forever didn't even have a not-happy-ending. It dealt with many ways to love someone, as a friend, as a partner/lover, as a parent/kid/familymember. While having this wonderful romance-part between Sam and Grace, it ultimately teaches or at least tells us how important some things are, love and friendship and trust, yes, but also eventually even facing the fact that no one is just evil or just good. We have many faces. But, what really broke me was the Beck/Sam-thing. Seriously, I cried my eyes out (and I'm not a cryer anymore). I've got so much left to say about it, but this isn't a proper review anyway, so I'm going to wait until I know what I really think about the novel and stop talking bs. ;) I didn’t know how I could live with that knowledge, without it eating me up, without it poisoning every happy memory I had of growing up. Without it ruining everything Beck and I had. I didn’t understand how someone could be both God and the devil. How the same person could destroy you and save you. When everything I was, good and bad, was knotted with threads of his making, how was I supposed to know whether to love or hate him?

I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish. It was concise & I liked trying to figure out the parallels to real life. Too bad Orwell died in 1950. I would have liked to see what he wrote about the Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missile Crisis, or the Gulf War for that matter.
