--- some of these short stories affected long after i stopped reading. i would read one before going to bed, and after i finished hem all, i felt like i had a lot of frustration and ire that were swimming inside of me. i felt immensely confused and satisfaction came only after re-reading some of the stories to see why i couldn't get to sleep for days after finishing the book in it's entirety. there is definitely something in most of those stories that really make me eager to read more about all of those characters. even some of them cut off in that annoying way that resembles the panic of leaving the final note unplayed, it was still a good read at the time. ---

Witty, dark, lean. The plot gets a bit fantastical at the end--intentionally so, I think, but I was annoyed. I found the characters plausible, and wanted to find their fates plausible, too.

This is a companion book to The Princess and the Hound. I enjoyed it more then the first. The animal/human relationship is a little difficult to get used to but since I read the other book first then I eased into the world a lot faster. Good read for teenagers who enjoy fantasy with a little romance.

What a difference a Wall makes! I passed through CheckPoint Charlie back when you had to to reach the other side. West Berlin, boisterous, active, cars packed the KuDamm at 1AM. Passing through the Graffiti west side to the east, a difference of well, East & West. A zone of dead buildings near the Wall, so you wouldn't use those to jump over the wall or burrow under. You had to exchange 25 Marks and you had to spend it, no taking any money back, and nothing to spend it on! No picture taking of 'official buildings.' Maybe 6 smoky Trabants buzzed from one traffic light to the next. This book is a collection of glossy photos mixed with pithy quotes regarding freedom and walls, divided into the phases, 'up against the wall', 'off the wall' etc. Ironically John Lennon's 'Imagine' is quoted, which is the Communist Manifesto put to music, just the ideology that build the Wall. And! the book came with your own authenticated hunk of the Wall!

Some funny parts. Plot was entertaining and give that i finished this series i would honestly credit it with more than 2 stars but it doesn't quite deserve three. While entertaining, the story lacks depth. the alcoholic mom is played out well but is a bt overdone as it shown the same in all three books. I would have liked to see more moral dilemma. The politics were predictable and played upon all the other faerie stories offering nothing new.
