I found a classic candy pack that corresponds with all the candy from the book. I think I only liked one or two of them, but this book made me want to try them. His point about America's ignorance of chocolate and hazelnut is completely on the mark, and a sentiment that I share. Try the 5 star bar that he raves about, it is the world's best candy bar.

The writing was fine and the story moved along. I did not like the characters at all. The author had a terrible time sticking with the subject in order to finish the book. Apparently she got tired of the storyline or something and had the characters starting new stuff with only a few pages to go. I was on the last page before I realized this was just going to be it. Disappointing at best.

This book takes you into a world you've yet been to. It sets you up in the Himalayans and drops you miles under the earth below Marianas trench. Great freakin' read. There is action, science, ghouls, even some crappy ass long story in the whole thing. I read this book once a year and it never gets old! There is a well thought out storyline the begins one character at a time, a great traverse across the middle of the book, and a climb to a killer ending. You need a book that reads like a movie, read this. By the way, the movie "The Descent" has nothing to do with this other than ripping off the initial plot of the book. Don't watch the movie if you read this book, only makes you mad.

Outside of the few and far between syntax errors (probably could be fixed w/ an editor) I was really surprised that I enjoyed this book. I thought the character development of the heroine was done very well, especially between her and her 'girls' (Angela, I'm talking to you - you crazy racist so and so). I thought the development of LaToya and Mitch's relationship was steady and progressive. Not too much unnecessary drama there and I really enjoyed that, so thanks Ms. Nelson. I enjoyed this one so much that I bought the next one in the series.

This was a very hard book to classify. It took place in 1903 which could make it historical fiction. There were those mysterious men in black which could make it science fiction. It was about a group of young geniuses who were suddenly taken from their families They deal with the uncertain nature of wondering about their parents, working on their inventions, and trying to discover more about the men in black. This was a slow-paced, old-fashioned sort of story that starts a trilogy.
