Guhrke has a talent for writing three-dimensional characters with very strong personalities (read: stubborn), but manages to keep them from veering into "annoying" territory. Beatrix and Will are another two such characters. Beatrix, especially, struck a chord with me. How many times have I, too, told myself that I was content to admire the view instead of jumping off the cliff? The story works well in the time period in which she sets it (Edwardian), as the plot would seem out of place in any other year (although I think some of the attitudes espoused by her characters might actually fit better if they were set another 15 years in the future). Several of the characters from earlier books make a reappearance, and the you can easily see future stories in the making.

Not only lessons on how to treat your husband, but any one (exclude the sex though). Treat them better, you get treated better. How hard is that? I don't understand people who want to nit pick their spouse or males in general. I don't get people who dislike Dr. Laura so much. Good advice throughout the book.

I would recommend this book to almost anyone! The sequel to The Golden Compass, this book carries on where it left off. Many new charachters are introduced, and there are exciting adventures. The only complaint that I have about this book is that sometimes Pullman's writing can be a little heavy and hard to get through, but for the most part this is an excellent book. You should read this if you liked A Wrinkle in Time. It's even better!

This was a fun story Christian romance novel about a twenty-something girl trying to figure out her ambitions and dealing with the twists and turns of life in a small town community. Her passion for writing and being noticed by a certain Scottish gentleman were adorable. Mostly predictable but enjoyable all the same.

Plot: Kate’s a PR assistant and through emails, answerphone and instant messages, scribbled notes on menus and letters from the boss, she tells the story of her struggle against the unfairness in the workplace, whilst she discovers a whole new breed of man. Characters: Kate’s lovely, Amy or the T.O.D is not. Mitch is lovely, a real proper gentleman. And Kate’s friend Jen is lovely, sticking by her and making it all right at the end. Style Of Writing: I didn’t think I’d like it, given that it’s not really writing, it’s more a hotch potch of messages telling a story, but it’s actually really interesting. Sometimes the format seems a bit forced, and it can be hard to know who is saying what. It is quick and fund to read, though. Overall Opinion: I liked it, didn’t take long to get through. Recommended If: You want a break from the regular styles of writing and something that’ll occupy you for a bit, if not long.
