To this day, I cannot pass a silver gas truck filling up a gas station without laughing. I love Christopher Moore.

Amazing graphic novel. The unconventional layout of the panels can be confusing at times but it's visually very beautiful, and every tiny detail of the book goes with the story (such as the cover folding out into a two sided family-tree).

I met John Michell a few times and liked him. A sort of elfin intellectual with a dash of mad professor. A kind and thoughtful man, very determined in pursuit of the answer to great puzzles. Some say that he was one of the real initiators of the whole Ancient Mysteries/New Age movement, and they must be right, surely, on the basis of View Over Atlantis alone (first published 1969). What strikes me now, reading the updated version of VoA, is how original and authentic a voice he had, how deeply serious and deeply interesting, even in a field now well-trodden. Part of the book gets a bit lost in a series of huge figures of the Great Pyramidical variety. As maybe he did himself, on occasion. But the first three chapters remain superb, and some of the Glastonbury stuff is extraordinary. A few people may have followed his column in Richard Ingram's 'Oldie' which ran for many years. I never read a bad one. John Michell died a couple of years ago, in his late 70s.

Though entertaining as always, in Death in the Clouds Christie seems to an extent simply to be going through the motions of writing a mystery story. The characters were slightly more canned than usual, the dialogue somewhat less witty, the ending less of a satisfying "a-ha" moment than in her best books. But I can hardly complain, since it was good fun and took all of an hour or two to read.

This was my first favorite book and also the first book i read on my own. I think i was in 5th grade lol. Honestly though, the movie did not give this book enough justice.

I've read this book three times already (so far). Favorite book ever! Which I had more time to read so I can get more Neal Stephenson books under my belt.

I loved this book. It was really well-written, and very easy to get absorbed in. i think it helped that i have a strong interest in Yiddish, and Jewish heritage. But putting that aside, the story and the characters were enough to keep me interested. I also like the Marc Chagall storyline. Ancestory is important to me, and the fact that this book spans 3 generations of one family made it a worth-while read. This was a very sensitive, touching book to read. I found myself reaching for the kleenex more than once.

Quite a refreshing read. The characters are rather annoying in their denial in the beginning for someone not acquainted with the spirit of the time, but they manage to grow on you.

This novel is told through the eyes of Dr. Gauchet who became friends with Vincent van Gogh through his mental illness. The author delves into the psyche of van Gogh and opens the reader up to the possible world that he saw through his eyes. The descriptions of the paintings and the melancholy were beautiful. The author made me look at Vincent van Gogh in a different light and I found I was more sympathetic toward him in this story.

Before Disney did its best to destroy it, Kipling wrote an unforgettable book about a boy brought up by wolves. The detailed observation of life in the jungle makes the story completely believable, and Kipling's narrative powers are very much on display in the Mowgli stories as well as in the other stories about Indian life -- though the heart of the book is with Mowgli. Indeed, there are only 3 chapters about the wolf-boy, but so powerful is the impression that Mowgli and his wolf brothers, Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther make that we forget Kotick, Little Toomai, and even Rikki-Tikki-Tavi in wanting more of the boy's life in the jungle. Parents everywhere have failed a life test if they haven't read the Mowgli chapters aloud to their children.

Komik kitap. Robot arkadaşı ve dünyayı başka bir boyuttan kötülükten kurtarması gereken sıcak büyü koruması ile cesedin yaşadığı büyülü bir solucandan daha komik ne olabilir? Bu doğru, hiçbir şey.
