Good content. Indian born girl gets married off by her family to a strange man who wants to move to a strange country (USA)to live. They raise two Americanized kids but try to uphold the old country culture. Gogol, their eldest son takes a lifetime to learn to deal with the conflict of two cultures. It is a beautiful book. So is the film that just came out.

Zweig is noted for novels of psychological insight. In this work, it is a twelve-year-old boy, on a vacation with his mother, that provides the centerpiece for the author's investigation. This boy becomes a pawn in a sexual chess-match between his mother and a predatory young aristocrat, out to add her to his list of conquests. To say more would be to give away the subtle paths that Zweig explores in this work. As usual with this author, well worth the time spent.

Dawkins' evolutionary concepts have resonated with me ever since I read this as a freshman at B.U. He is a very clear writer, and his theories are persuasive even if you're not really scientifically minded. His concepts just make sense, and you will see the evidence for them all around you. This book sparked my side interest in popular science, and it just might do the same for you! (p.s. - In case you weren't already aware that I can be the ultimate nerd - my copy is autographed!)

Entertaining, but nowhere near as good as his Fablehaven series. I just felt like he showed no restraint in his use of plot elements so reading it was almost like being bombarded by a fantasy writing syllabus. It got to be a bit excessive so by the end I was ready to be done. That being said, I am curious enough that I'll eventually pick up the rest of the series.

Be afraid. - - - Ok, read. It's not a good book, It's a bad book. (weird format, lots held back) But it did make me love Cher & understand her role in popular culture better (the original hippie).
