I found Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead to be well written, interesting, and a cut above most other vampire fiction. The dialogue was crisp and witty, the characters were new and realistic. I could empathize with the angst felt by the characters. I liked this book. The sexual scenes seem a bit gratuitious and unnecessarily detailed. I understand that such scenes are necessary for this character and book but I felt the way they are seemingly "plopped" down in the scene somewhat to be a random. I would recommend this book to adults (18+ only) that enjoy vampire romance with a bit of angst in the characters.

long. repetitive. not short. circular. a looong history of a specific region in the balkans...all centered around the ever constant, pure, white, unchanging, never moving, always there, bridge over the drina.

I like Hard Love becauase it was refreshing. I likde the dynamics of the relationship between the main character and all the people around him. I got midway throught the book and thought I had it all figured out, but I didn't. So, stick with it, you won't be disappointed.

This was an enjoyable piece of easy reading. Less than a day to read, interesting cast of characters, nice locations, a story with some depth to it and I'd certainly pick up another book by Feeny in future. But there were parts where I felt the book could have been much better. The characters seemed half heartedly realised at times and some things that ought to have been totally shocking were more or less skated over. And I felt like the book didn't quite know how to end. On the whole though it was a good read and a good story.

3.75 stars. Why not, I'm feeling generous.

I am not nor have ever been a fan of Jane Austen; I have always been far too modern (or so I thought until recently when I saw a wonderful review by Annie Leibovitz on Jane Austen, but I'm digressing). However, when it was recommended to me, I found I couldn't put down this book. It is lovely. The voice is strong, the words are concise and the characters are rich beyond measure. I could see the author loved her setting and characters very much which made the story flow easily. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Lily Alone was alright but not really my type, I like books with more adventure.

The one thing I noticed was how difficult it was to keep track of the men, there one moment dead or wounded the next.

We all quote proverbs and thoughts freely, with little interest in why. While many proverbs are self-explanatory, others aren't. I often find my self saying things and wondering where that particular phrase came from and why I even know it. This little gem is the perfect book if you want to know or understand a particular proverb or phrase. Like the other books in the Reader's Digest series, An Apple A Day is just a fun book to read. It's one that you can read in a sitting or just a chapter at a time. It would make a great gift for that friend who loves words, books and proverbs.

I've heard a lot about Nick Earls, and it was this as well as the fact the book had an Australian actor I've admired for ages for playing quirky, relatable teenage actors on the cover that I chose to take it off the shelf. And the book didn't disappoint. "48 Shades of Brown" was quirky, funny (hilarious, really), crazy, relatable and incredibly, incredibly insightful. I loved the relaxed laziness of the story which is so typical of Brisbane and most of all I loved this boy's honest commentary about his life and his world - some of his lines are so funny, and yet so... true. Sure, the ending felt a little bit unsatisfying, and their were times that I wanted to throw up a little (when he got vomited on? EW.) but this is a must read for Australian teenagers. :D
