An adventure story you won't forget!! Jon Krakauer's personal account of climbing Mt. Everest in May 1996 and the disaster that happend during that expedition. A wonderful, riveting story. I couldn't put it down until I was finished. I can't for the life of me figure out why these people attempt such dangerous climbs! It seems to be in their blood and becomes such an overwhelming psychological need that they HAVE to do it! Amazing!!

I came across this book by pure chance when I was on holiday in Colmar, France. Because the weather was terrible during this holiday, I had already long finished all the books I'd broght from home, so as soon as we arrived in Colmar, I went on the hunt for bookstores in the hope of finding some English books. Luckily one store had a very small section of DEnglish books, and this is where I found "Truly Madly Yours". I read it in 1 go, wonderful, witty and relaxing read with wonderful, feisty characters that make you wish they were real.

Fascinating forensics, but the story was a bit convoluted for me, and some of the characters were a little "off." Katy acted more like a petulant teenager than a 24-year-old woman, and the Ryan thing was just silly, all that angst and jealousy. I do like Temperance's self-deprecating humor and her amazing expertise, and have always enjoyed her as a protagonist. I found the info about missing POWs and our government's efforts to bring them home to be very interesting, and was glad to learn about that.

I did not really care for this book. The author's stories seemd a little boring, jumbled and not really funny at all. There were a couple short stories that I enjoyed, but on the whole the book was completely forgettable to me.

"Who's there?" I demanded. "I am," a voice whispered. "I'm coming for you." After reading those lines in the 1st chapter, I thought for sure this book would be a thriller from start to finish. However, I was disappointed because the story slowed down way too much in the middle. The end was good enough to qualify as an acceptable horror story but overall the book was too slow for my liking. One positive is that this Sunshine State book is short and easy to read. (174 pages)
