The earlier stories were nice: short and interesting. The later, longer stories missed the mark.

Michael J Fox's first book was his autobiography. He talked about his family and childhood and rise to fame. His second book started from the time he ended Spin City until now. He talked about his Parkinson's Foundation and the progression of his disease and his wife and four children. I think it was a wonderful book and really showed how brave his is living with this disease and what kind of impact he can make.

A castle, a curse, a mystery, a plucky, smart heroine (who's an herbalist, yay!), a mysterious stranger, magic spells, dragons, not one but TWO fairy tales retold (technically three, if you toss a Greek myth into there), and a mini-homage to Hildegard of Bingen, one of my absolute favorite medieval ladies. Seriously, what is there NOT to like about this book? With so many of my favorite things wrapped up into it, I felt like it was written just for me. The characters are fantastic-- no cliches here (except maybe cow-boy, and I did wind up feeling a little bad for him), no easy "good guys" or "bad guys," and several really touching relationships-- Mistress Adina made me cry) and Reveka is a wonderfully imperfect heroine. (I'll point out, too, that Haskell brings the medieval setting very naturally to life, here; Reveka is only 13, but she's a lot more like a modern-day 16 in terms of maturity. Also, I LOVED the way she worked in the regional politics.) I loved that, even knowing all the fairy tales this was based on, I had no idea how things were going to turn out. The pacing does slow down a little bit in the World Below, but hey, time moves differently, there, right? ;) A definite recommended read. <3

A Child Called " It " Is a very interesting heart throbbing book. It holds a lot of realistic events that a lot of people go through everyday. Being physically, mentally, and emotionally abused isn't something you put on your forehead and let everyone know. Most people don't talk about it, and try to keep it a secret. Some children don't even tell others like David ( the caracter in the book )didn't. He didn't tell people he got abused by his mom. And all these events in this book aren't something people talk about. But Dave Pelzer made this book about his past not only to entertain people with the exciting plot and events, but to inform children who have a great life about events that they probably don't know that happen. They don't have to go through the baggage some children have to suffer with. I love this book. I would recommend it to anyone, but not without warning them it may make you cry.

This is the first time I've read a DeMille novel. I liked this, but I was slightly disappointed. There were so many directions this book could have taken, but it didn't take them. Parts of it were extraneous, and it could have had a little more action. That's just my opinion-I like a lot of action in my espionage novels.

this is a great book for writers to read because it inspires you to think outside the box.it reminds you that your a writer and its normal to be a little odd at times.this book is like an emotional roller coaster.in fact it was a little bit too depressing at times.don't get me wrong though. i did enjoy the book.it not only 'captures the castle' but it capture our inner most thoughts and feelings in life.in fact i felt like the writer was stealing thoughts right from my mind.in that matter the book is timeless.on the other hand i did need to keep Google near by for the first 6 chapters.it was frustrating because i wanted to get on with the book.then again i did enjoy the history lesson.as you can see i had two different opinions about this book simultaneously.ultimately in the end the good beat the bad. i did enjoy this book and would recommend reading it.

MEH. It has everything it needs to have, but boy the code sure is unnecessarily hard to parse, and the writing is only so-so.
