I love this book. I'm not going to go on and on about how great it is; i think it speaks for itself. But I will say the characters are easy to identify with, and I LOVE the way he describes the scenery. There's something transcendent about it.

Oh how I've missed this series. I think this was my favourite series by Enid Blyton, and it is much more successful than the 'famous five'. Nice and safe adventures with stupid, witless crooks, lots of food (there is always lots of food in Enid Blyton books!) and sleeping on "soft and springy moss". Of course there is the somewhat annoying issue of the sexism in the books, which comes to light in the boys doing all the dangerous thingswhile the girls stay to "keep watch" on the cave, but it is simply a thing you have to deal with when reading Enid Blyton. 6.3.07

Because I typically fall asleep or become distracted after a few pages of reading, short stories are ideal for me. In addition to that, a well-read friend of mine recommended this book to me, so I was really looking forward to exploring it. My excitement did not last long, however. I've read about four of her stories now, and I'm still wondering when things are supposed to become interesting. The book has been given plenty of awards and good reviews, but I can't quite seem to figure out why. Nothing, so far, has been compelling to me in the least. These stories are simply bland. I don't think I'll be reading the rest of them, unless the pills alone aren't enough, and I find I need some additional assistance in passing out quickly. Then again, perhaps I'll just pass it along to granny.
