Remember when everyone (not just die-hard Star Wars "geeks" but EVERYONE) looked forward to another Star Wars sequel? I can't adequately describe the excitement as a 13-year-old in the summer of 1991 when the first official Star Wars chapter since 1983’s Return of the Jedi finally arrived. Among the first, quite possibly the best, and certainly the most memorable entry in the so-called “expanded universe”, Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire was everything Star Wars fans had been waiting for and more, and we still didn’t know we’d have to wait eight more years for the first of the long-rumored prequels. We got all the characters we knew and loved—Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando—and met new characters with ties to the past, not only from the days of the Empire (whose factions still threaten the New Republic) but also hints of older times like the Clone Wars. After the finale of Episode VI (you know, those pesky serial titles of the original trilogy’s 4, 5, & 6), this was our Episode VII, and the “Zahn Trilogy” as it would be called will always be our Episodes 7, 8, & 9, even if we never get the movies. All you have to do is pick up a copy, put on a CD of the classic John Williams music, and you’ll be transported again to a Galaxy Far, Far Away....

So goofy! I love Frey not only is he hot, but he is so funny. This is more of a comedy than anything and is not to be taken seriously. I enjoyed this one much more than the first.

I can't decide if I like this book or not. It was recommended by a teacher who said their whole high school was reading it. I am a bit surprised that the school chose this book. Although it has a great message about how the little things we do can have far reaching affects, it also has a quite graphic sex scene near the end. Teen suicide is an important topic and this book does a great job of detailing how something so drastic can seem like a way out. I hope that those who read this book can see that this girl had so many other options. This book really made me think about the things I do and how they might affect those around me.

Хорошая книга для начинающих. Не предполагает у читателя знания Silverlight/XAML или XNA. Построена по принципу «от простого к сложному». Cодержит небольшие но законченные примеры, помогающие разобраться в предмете каждой главы, причём зачастую для иллюстрации нюансов создаётся один вариант программы, потом объясняется почему такой вариант — не лучший и программа тут же дорабатывается. Продвинутых техник типа работы с акселерометром и т.п. — нет, т.е. книга, по сути, является хорошим введением. Рекомендую читать и тут же пробовать изложенное. И сама книга, и исходные коды примеров к ней выложены Microsoft в бесплатном доступе (кстати, есть не только PDF, но и EPUB, и Kindle-версия). В книге 3 части: введение, Silverlight, XNA. Эта книга есть и в русском переводе: «Программируем Windows Phone 7», но в русской версии есть только 1-я и 2-я части, и поэтому не 1000+ страниц, а менее 700.
