This was a nice, light read.

This book was amazing. I know everyone says that, but it was seriously a.maz.ing! I wonder how many people read it as fluff though and how many sit back and wonder how close we are to living like that. Not the whole world war part, but the Games. I don't want to offend anyone, but I see the beginnings of this in those beloved reality shows, making fun at the expense of others, pitting people against each other - not that I think competition is a bad thing, not when it promotes hard work and teamwork - but there's an extreme. When it becomes violent, hateful, vengeful. You can see these things everywhere. Not just in reality TV. I think back a few years when all those dog fights were happening and the online betting that was going on and then I think about those high school kids who were beating people up and posting it online. How many hits did it get? I don't know, but it was awful. It was enough to make it to national news. Maybe I'm wrong and Suzanne Collins wasn't trying to make a deeper point about society, but that's what I took from it and I think these books are inspiring, tools of learning if we let them be. Between this and The Silence of God that I recently finished, the phrase that echoes through my mind again and again is that "Government cannot change the hearts of man". We each have to be responsible for what our hearts feel and how we react to the world around us. There are always consequences. Always. The one thing I had a hard time with in these books was the present tense. I know why she used it, but I had a hard time getting used to it.

I enjoyed this one as well. Brown has a way of writing so that the reader never has a good time to put the book down. The end of this one disappointed a bit in that it didn't seem as realistic as the rest of the book. ******** I decided to re-read this book before the movie comes out in May. After seeing the previews, I realized that I don't remember much about the actual plot of the story.

Simply beautiful. The emotions in this book was described perfectly. Tyler seemed so cute and darn adorable. I hated how the ghost of Mitch still effected Hearn’s opinion of himself but I love how he blossomed into a wonderful, confident man under Tyler’s love and care. Gracie was a wonderful addition to this story. My only complaint is I would have liked the story to be based more on them and not the other characters, though I understand the need for series development. Regardless, a great addition to an already perfect series!

I enjoyed this series a lot when I first read them years ago, and I did enjoy them now, re-reading them, but perhaps not as much. I skimmed a bit and rushed, and for whatever reason I really wish Harper and Manfred had been a thing, because while I understand on moral grounds, why Tolliver Harper isn't bad (they weren't really related, and met in their teens rather than as children and never considered each other as siblings) but I just didn't feel it this read.

I absolutely loved this book. Clever, thoughtful, and thoroughly engrossing. Ronson has a tendency to make the story about him, but it works perfectly here with a very introspective subject.

For someone who faints at the sight of blood, even in movies, this was not a good choice to listen to while driving. Would I be the first person ever to die because they fainted listening to an audio book?

I read this an age ago, and all I can remember is that the protagonist is the kind of messed up woman we all have inside of us, and that the book was worth reading.

As far as I'm concerned you can forget Updike and Roth and Bellow and all those other "great" American novelists - Stegner is the one to read!

If I had to sum this book up in one word it would be intense. I actually somewhat liked the book, but it is out there, and it is not for the lighthearted. This book is very much about sex, violence, and the impact technology (particularly cars) has on these two dominating elements in our society. Quite the interesting read, but it is definitely a different type of book that pushes the limits. Believe it or not I had to read this book for my GOVT Senior Seminar class. Unfortunately for the author, he gets buried in his detailed accounts of events at times, and the points are hard to decipher.
