On the one hand, it is a very sweet story about two men that meet, become friends and then fall in love. On the other hand, it is a very nondescript story about two men that meet, become friends and then fall in love. This book is difficult to review because I really did enjoy it, but I have no idea why. There really was no tension, no angst and no alternate emotions except love in all its forms. From beginning love to long time lovers (secondary characters) this is an easy, non threatening look at the steps of a relationship. Except for Brett being frustrated with Gerald's non-communicative style of "going along" there are no other difficulties encountered by the pair. All those forms of love are so well written that as the reader I really did feel them and you knew it was the real thing for them. However, every time I turned a page, I waited for some type of disaster to strike...and it never does. I am not used to that in a novel of this type. The writing was great, I expected no less from both authors and that is probably the only reason this book was so good based on the slow and potentially boring plot. The sex was very hot and quite graphic, but it was not the focus of the relationship and does not occur until later in the book. But once it does....the pages burn up.

You get to know the people behind the planning and the people who suffered during the attack. For resource material, this is a great book. A great addition to anyone's collection.

Good stuff. Feels a bit like two really short books to me, though. It's not clear why the second half, a very interesting and well argued theory of responsibility as the possesion of moral capacities, couldn't be separated from the first half, which was on a Strawsonian theory of reactive attitudes. Clearly, they're related. But I felt like more plausible (i.e. less strictly Strawsonian) theories of what's actually going on in the practice of holding responsible could be attached to the normative theory of responsibility presented in chapter 4 and following.

I really liked the first half of this book. The second half seemed a little all over the board. Although the it did wrap certain things up I felt that it could have been done a little better with more excitement. I would have really loved it if the book finished in the middle of the story and kept me wanting more.
