North Adams is a small town. This author (she is using a nom-de-plume) is a native, provides a de facto commentary on the old and the new here through this mystery novel. Probably more interesting as a semi-anthropological study, but entertaining enough.

I received this ebook giveaway free through the author with a Smashwords coupon."The Choice" by Lorhainne Eckhart,started out fast paced from page one. Marcie is going down the wrong path and being controlled by a drug dealer/grower, Dan. She makes a run to drop off drugs and ends up getting robbed. In the process she developes amnesia and gains the help of a DEA agent, Sam. He is going through struggles in his own life and in his work. It seems as if their paths are meant to meet. There seems to be a struggle for generations of good and evil and now Marcie and Sam are caught in the middle of it.The story was well developed, fast action and kept you quessing until the end.Read this book...it was well worth it.

Maguire really makes the protagonist a very sympathetic character. Very creative material within the book itself (the political commentary was what I really loved about Wicked). Although the book is divided into Parts (I think 5 major ones although I don't remember now) and the last Part is probably my least favorite section of the book. Great book!

I received this through GoodReads FirstReads. I knew this was a romance, but I was expecting it to look more like a Nora Roberts than a Mills & Boon. Still, I was determined to read it though my expectations were considerably lowered by the cover. It seems a terrible thing to say, but I'm not generally a pure romance kind of girl and that's the best that can be said about Mills & Boon in terms of plot. The beginning was far better than I expected and drew me in. I cared about the main character and wanted to know what happened to her. The middle of the book was okay, but nothing out of the ordinary. What really annoyed me was the ending. It was abrupt, sudden and gave no chance for character development. I understand the rationale behind this, though, because I have in my possession guidelines from a similar publisher about what *exactly* they expect from each chapter of the book. This is meant to be light-hearted romance, with an emphasis on romance and a consequent neglect of plot and character development. I enjoyed the book, but it's not something I'd recommend, read again or buy for myself.
