Second in the series by Vaughan, it lacks much of the passion and intrigue of the first book. Most of the story is focused on the battle of a plague which lets face it, sick people don't always make for the best romance story. I do however love to see a series focus on a single couple rather than just bring them back as supporting characters.

I was pleasantly surprised about this book. I've never heard of this series, but when a bind and waiting for my requested books to come in, I grab something off the new mystery shelf because mysteries tend to be safer and cleaner than the random fiction books I grab off the shelf. Anyway, I'm a sucker for historical fiction English mysteries (Hello, Lady Julia, Lady Emily, and Sebastian St. Cyr!) and this one was in the same vein, but more modern...mid 1930s, so that was a fun era to follow the English aristocracy in as many of them were in decline due to the depression. Anyway, quick read, cute main character, it was an overall pleasant surprise!

A book about transformation-- and amazing tale, but very repetitive at moments, and the trauma is repeated throughout the book, but uplifting at the end, and a good read to understand the discrimination put upon Mexicans.

We read this as a class when I was in high school & at that time I HATED to read. The teacher I had did a remarkable job... she went through that book & made it come alive. I will never forget that experience or her name: Mrs Starrett.

I listened to this book at work. Maybe it was the reader, but I thought the language was plain, silly and disconnected. The story felt sluggish & I couldn't relate. It was predictable & had lots of scenes that I felt were pointless. Maybe next time, I'll pick up the actual book, but I have a feeling it's already ruined for me.

I actually liked this book for awhile. I like kids and come on, who doesn't love cute little twins? Luke searching for Academy candidates was interesting as well, both for the novelty and the long reaching consequences for the EU arc. However, I later read the whole X-wing novel series, as well as the Rogue Squadron comics and immediately began to hate Anderson for what he did to Wedge Antilles. Antilles/Wessiri OTP.
