Well thought out story in an easy read format. Read start to finish in a single setting. Great characters that were easy to like and an interesting insight into politics and the war. It was my first LDS fiction book so I wasn't sure what to expect. I really enjoyed reading it and didn't want it to end! It was thrilling and suspenseful and romance was the perfect amount. The EDITING was not good - there were countless errors that drove me a little crazy and should easily have been resolved by a good edit. It was a great, feel good story, and I can't wait to read her next book:)

This reminded me so very much of Dandelion Wine and introduced The Illustrated Man (but in a much more scary context here). As a dream-like exploration of childhood fears and gravitation towards adventure and danger, it is quite lovely, but the adventures at the dreadful carnival - with its frightening mirror mazes, age-defying carousel and REAL witch - span nearly 300 pages, and tried my patience a little as a result. It's a fugue state that beyond a certain span of time becomes annoying to remain stuck in. What I find a mystery is why I own this book... it's been sitting on my shelf for quite a number of years, and I have no idea who bought or acquired it!

I have now purchased this book and am using to put some of the ideas into practice. I have been Square Foot Gardening for about 7 years now. This books makes SFG look like container gardening. I have always been afraid to really get in and garden in the ground because of obnoxious witchgrass that we have in some places of the yard. This books has inspired me to plant many fruit trees, and I am slowly making plans to plant guilds around them and to start planting "outside the box." I am going to try sheet composting around my blueberry bushes and my fruit trees, and the book offers very specific information on how to do this and what the benefits are. There are lots and lots of lists of plants, bushes, and trees and what their functions are in the garden. I'm very glad I have my own copy.

Stephen Ambrose is my favorite historian of World War II and his Pegasus Bridge does not disappoint. This book tells the story of the first engagement of D-Day and of the men on both sides who participated in it. Ambrose is wonderfully able to make history come to life. Reading Pegasus Bridge made me once again think on the incredible sacrifices that my grandfather's generation (my was with Patton’s Sixth army in Europe) was called upon to make. I’m not one to elevate those who were called upon to fight to a rarefied status but I am impressed and humbled by what they accomplished and what they had to go through. They had a terrible task put before them and they performed that task well.

An easy read however, has tendancy to ramble at times. There were parts of this book where he shared stories about events that completely lost my interest while areas and events that I did find intriguing were completely ignored. I would definitely recommend this book though to those just starting out in the theatre, acting, directing, producing, playwriting etc. because it certainly shows how long the road to success can be.
