It was too short in my opinion but charming. The stories themselves were nothing amazing but Dumbledore's commentary was what made it! Provided even more insight into the history of the wizarding world.The whole thing was cute and kept all the light humor and wit expected from Rowling. A must read for fans.

As a basic "good vs. evil" adventure, this was fine. It didn't have the elements that normally draw me, but it hinted at them: magic, complexity, shades of grey. Reasons why the villains were the villains and the good guys were the good guys. Instead it had children who were thrown into a quest and had not motivations to finish it other than an instinctual drive to be "good". But what does good really mean? That I am still not as sure of. But on the whole not a bad way to spend a couple of evenings.

Reading this little novel was an experience of fits and starts. The encounters between Henry, a writer with severe writer's block, and a taxidermist who seeks him out for some undisclosed "help" with his play are compelling and mysterious. Henry is drawn in by this man who displays little emotion and reveals little of his true motive for seeking Henry's assistance with his play. As a reader you are similarly drawn in as the book careens to a fateful ending.
