Fatta salva l'idea di base, ovvero del salto nel tempo nel passato, questo è un romanzo storico. La trama è lineare, scorrevole, spesso prevedibile nei colpi di scena ma sempre con un ritmo tale da non lasciare pause o momenti di noia. Ciò che è maggiormente apprezzabile, contrariamente ad autori ben piu' celebrati, è la cura con cui descrive e ricostruisce il medioevo duecentesco francese con dettagli e descrizioni che non cadono mai nel didattico, permettendo di creare nella storia una precisa ambientazione rafforzando i contorni dei personaggi. Un libro consigliato a chi ama il medioevo. Ambienti, usi, costumi, mentalità cavalleresca sono resi con la giusta attenzione (finalmente le brache si chiamano brache e non pantaloni....) Le pagine dedicate alla battaglia di Bouvines non avrebbero nulla da invidiare al miglior Cornwell.

When Teresa tries to aim her lightening at the helicopter, they start shooting at her. Teresa belives she is about to die when all of a sudden a man appears in front of her surrounded by fire. When he tells her to hold onto him, she does and they they disappear. Rune is an eternal warrior. He was created by Belen to please his lover Daru. Eternal warriors were created from the heat and fire from the heart of the sun. Belen made the warriors to be mates for Daru's daughters, the witches. In return for their love and protection the warriors were given fire, strength and immortality. The warriors watch over their witch thoughout all of their lives. When each witch goes through her awakening, her eternal warrior shows up in her life. When they go though the mating ritual, the witch starts to remeber all of her past lives and where she hid her part of the artifact. But someone else is after not only the artifact but wants Teresa as well. Will Rune be able to keep Teresa safe until they find the artifact? Rune and Teresa do not trust each other due to the past but in order to survive they will have to learn to trust each other or all is lost. This is Ms Hastings second installment of her Awakening series. This is a wonder new series. Two wounded hearts getting a second chance at love. This is a story that has it all, romance, action, witches and hot warriors. What more could you ask for? I really enjoyed this book. I could not put it down until I had finished the whole book. Ms Hastings has become an auto-buy for me.

I love reading young adult fiction books, they are sweet and clean. This story is great because the main theme is having the ability to choose- which is always a hit for me. This book does a great job of showing the benfefits of having your life laid out for you though. Plus the heroine's name is one I considered for my oldest daughter, so I already felt connected to her from the first word.

Bradley has managed to maintain a consistent quality with this series. Flavia is back again and ends up in the middle of a murder investigation. This one starts with an attack on a Gypsy fortune teller staying near her home. Although I enjoyed this novel, there were a couple of things not resolved by the end of the book that really should have been. For one thing the friend of the artist really had it in for Flavia, but the reason for her animosity was never explained. Another was the gypsy woman's granddaughter. As the narrator Flavia foreshadowed something ominous about the girl a couple of times, but nothing came of it. I'm fairly certain these two characters will not be back in future books, so these questions will remain unresolved. One thing I did like was that Flavia was finally called on all the things she did wrong -- tampering with evidence, withholding evidence, and generally being a nuisance. Although the detective struck me as fairly dumb not to suspect her of doing this from the start. He should know by now not to trust Flavia and keep a closer eye on her. But I liked that he finally reprimanded her for interfering.

Alain de Botton ganhou o privilégio de dormir durante uma semana num hotel Sofitel em Heathrow, e passar o tempo a escrever em pleno Terminal 5 do aeroporto londrino. A escrita de De Botton (a propósito, o seu apelido é de origem ibérica, o escritor é descendente de judeus sefarditas) é carregada de sentido e de humor, uma ironia subtil que, juntamente com um implacável poder de analisar as pessoas e detectar-lhes as fragilidades, pode por vezes descair para uma certa condescendência ligeiramente irritante. De Botton é aquele tipo de snob que nunca questionou essa sua característica, e por isso não tem consciência de como ela pode ser desagradável e até um pouco malévola. Como é óbvio, esta candura salva-o de ser um escritor insuportável, como são a maior parte dos escritores que têm consciência desse snobismo e acham que é ele, precisamente, que lhes vai abrir as portas do céu. O livro, por ser breve, mas também por ser muito bem escrito, divertido, e muito interessante, lê-se num ápice. Como já disse, é irresistível a capacidade do autor de ler as personagens (que são, não nos distraiamos, pessoas reais, passageiros ou trabalhadores do aeroporto), e de as colocar num contexto de contemporaneidade, de, digamos assim, lhes perceber a alma e lhes traçar um destino (ainda que inventado) que faz todo o sentido no mundo actual (por actual entenda-se o de hoje de manhã, do noticiário das oito).
