An author's sentimental love affair with New York, but all in a good way. I took this book on a walking tour of the battery last weekend and it was incredibley interesting. Washington Square Park is next.

An interesting fantasy that makes you think about what it might be like to live in a world that was perfect, but offers no freedom for choices or will.

I really like this story, even if you are not a gamer you still will enjoy this book. The story Jump from the real world to the cyber world, it was very easy to follow both. Now, if you are a gamer like me, you are going to love it!! It remind me of World of Warcraft. Mind you, the plot wasn't very realistic, but Hey, I read werewolf and vampires books, so who am I to criticize that plot was a little bit of nonsense. Highly enjoyable !!!

Short stories without many words. Cute and creepy and surreal. I tend to get impatient trying to follow the narrative in comics that don't have words, and this is no exception. Didn't get into it. Liked the art well enough, though.

This book had some fascinating and unique ideas. The characters were flawed, interesting and likeable and the story fast paced. The biggest problem I had with the book was that the appendix was quite thick and so I came to the end off the story much earlier than suggested by the size of the book.

Sarah Dessen fans will not be disappointed by this book. It has similar themes and similarly likeable characters to her other books (some characters from Along for the Ride actually make an appearance here). Elizabeth Sweet, whose parents have had an ugly divorce, has moved many times with her father, who fixes failing restaurants. With each move she has the opportunity to change her personality and her name, and very carefully avoids forming real friendships with the people she meets, since she knows that she'll be leaving soon. However, several of the people she meets in her newest town, including the boy next door, help her learn to trust friends and to discover who she really is.
Great book for young preschoolers.
After dozens of friends had told me Siddharta was undoubtedly the most boring book they'd ever read, I was almost convinced to just skip it, but curiosity got the better of me, so I started what I thought would be, as I said, the most boring book in the history of books. It turned out, I need boring books once in a while. Actually, I completely missed the boring side of it, I was so engrossed in the reading. I didn't find the plot to be particularly illuminating or anything, but I found it very enjoyable and my new-found love for philosophy appreciated the more spiritualistic parts a lot. I must say, it left me speechless once or twice, and I couldn't bring myself to completely agree with Siddharta's vision of the world, but it was all in all a satisfying read. I really hope I'll get to read it in its original language one day.

I know that one of the reasons I enjoyed this book was listening to Pat Conroy read this book. I am not always fond of author's reading their own works. Just because you can write does not mean that you can read out loud. However, I believe that Conroy had good training - his mother read to him. This was an enjoyable book, I found parts laugh out loud funny and I learned lots about Conroy's life, why he reads and why he writes. Conroy and I have differing opinions about some of his books, but for good or for bad, I found a few more books that I need to read or reread. I also may have changed my mind about why Conroy writes the books he does. I always believed he is writing to deal with his father, but that is not what Conroy says. I don't want to spoil the book, so you will need to read this and see what you think. I would recommend that you listen. Not only do you get to hear Conroy's words from his own mouth, but there is a short interview at the end of the book on CD.
