Perfect for babies! High contrast books are great for developing eyes. This wordless book encourages caregivers to expand upon the image and engage the child. Early Literacy Skills: Letter Knowledge Print Motivation

This book was heaps better than Reamde and best of all, was written by a guy I once slightly knew through a woman he dated. I didn't even realize he was the author (we called him Ernie) until I saw the last page in the book "about the author'. Well done Ernie! Thanks for the Adventure.

I like the character development and how the first person changed from Paul to Fenno, but the author is quite wordy. I'm on about page 100 and wondering how she's going to fill an additional 250 pages???

This book really gives religious people something to think about. I think that religious corruption as portrayed in this story is extremely prevalent to today's society.

This was quite good, though I never would have picked it up if a co worker hadn't practically forced it on me. It was exciting throughout, but it drove me nuts to not know whether all of the architectural and historical details were true or not. I felt like somehow I was being deceived as I read it.

The fae section of this novel - which felt like it was 1000 pages long - nearly caused me to set this book down. I started skim reading at that point and only settled back down to a normal pace when Kvothe started his training in "Asia." Apart from the horrid Fae section - and setting aside the sexual politics and tin eared, purple prose - most of the book is fun. With that said, its far below the quality and excitement of the first book. Whatever the supra-narrative may be has disappeared and/or come to a crashing halt. How any of the "current" day aspects of the story are to be resolved in the next - and supposedly final book - is unclear and highly unlikely. I bet on a George RR style expansion.

This is a strange little book! Wasn't sure I wanted to read it all the way through until I was well into it. The loneliness and emotional isolation of a nuclear family in southern California is poignantly and very creatively depicted. The narrator grows from child to young woman as she spins the sad tale of a family separated from community of any kind. The narrator manages to understand and love her parents and brother in a more mature way than any of them are capable of doing. She finds her passion--you'll have to read it yourselves.

Mary Jo Salter, one of the editors, was my professor for Post WWII Poetry my junior year. She's also a "famous" poet--as famous as poets can be these days. Anyway, the class rocked. A couple of my favorites are Randall Jarrell and Wendy Cope.

my fav quote: "The innocent Indian honey of my infancy was now mixed with the pungencies of India spices, the sour and bitter, the nutty, and the tinglingly aromatic. Births, deaths, illnesses, caste, and creed had woven their way through the flavors like tenacious creepers, and yet, somewhere in my depths, each bite, each taste of all I had eaten, lay catalogued in some pristine file, ready to be drawn up when the moment was ripe." p243
