This book is great. I recommend it for any girl that wants to learn more about her body. It is quite scientific, but easy to read and VERY informative. I learned a ton from it. It was a quick read also. I think I finished it in about 5 days of just picking it up from time to time. I think I might have to buy my own copy. Awesome.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is set after WWII. Writer, Juliet Ashton, is looking for her next book subject when she receives a letter from a man she has never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb. Juliet begins exchanging letters with this man and is enchanted by him and his friends. Juliet soon learns of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, an alibi used when its members were discovered breaking curfew by the Germans occupying their island. As Juliet learns more about the Society's members and the impact of the German occupation, she decides to visit Guernsey and her new book subject is born. I listened to the audio book and was entertained to hear the variety of English accents. The book format is solely in letters and telegraphs which adds to the uniqueness of the story.

Excellent book. Despite reading it AGES ago, I distinctly remember it giving a fair treatment to topics usually reserved for massive works like War and Peace. Basically, a future society has decided to go all-out with the notion of rule by an intellectual vanguard (Leninism does this loudly, as does fascism). This is the story of a very unusual boy growing up in this environment.

I really love this whole series, so this was just another really great story! Drags a little, but I really like the idea of some people using more than 10% of their brains and the havoc it causes (death, destruction, mayhem). Good random fiction to just let your mind wander and enjoy!

This is the Fastfood Nation & Omnivore's Dilemma of garbage. Ms. Royte decides to follow her garbage after seeing the litter and pollution in the East River - only blocks from her home in Brooklyn. In the process she discovers how far New York is willing to ship it's trash, and the financial, policitical and environmental concerns that our waste disposal and, maybe more importantly, our waste generation raises. In the process she tries to lessen her footprint by composting, recycling more and buying much much much less. Especially the cheap plastic goods that we so quickly toss in the garbage. Though Vowell is endeared to the people she is writing about, her bias against Christianity as a whole as antiquated and dangerous is thinly disguised. I usually love Vowell's work. I was disappointed with this one, though.
