I couldn't get through this. Characters and situation too fraught and improbable.

I love this simple-to-use book for teaching spelling rules. Kids love the puzzles, and I like the packets--lots of coverage of each rule in simple independent-work format.

I checked this out of the library because the author sounded so appealing on the radio. Instead, I find myself mired in the horrible tug-of-war of child psychology in the 50's and 60's, and the hopelessly frigid demeanor of Mrs. Gaines. I probably won't finish it.

My second favorite Salinger novel. I love the Glass family.

I had a hard time getting into this book. During the first chapter, I found Alex and her friends to be slightly overdone and a little annoying. They were the typical "I'm above the era I live in" type of girls that you find in a lot of these books. I typically enjoy that kind of high-spirited girl, but in this book it almost seemed a little forced. Infact, I put this book down and read several others before finishing it. That being said, with the addition of the comedic brothers and the charming Gavin, the story seemed to improve. Alex became a little more "real" as she developed and explored her feelings for Gavin. I loved the friendly banter between Alex and her brothers. This is not much of a mystery, so don't read it if you are looking for a "regency mystery." It's more about Alex and her developing feelings. It was cute at times and I got hooked reading. Worth reading if you like the era. The characters had distinct personalities, if a trifle cliche. Mostly, though, it was an enjoyable book.

"And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." WOW! This book is about following your destiny, a beautiful story with a powerful message. I am yet to come across anything like it. One of my all time favorites! Truly inspirational.

Like the majority of The Sandman saga up until this point, Gaiman's A Game of You somehow failed to be intiguing or convincing. Despite its best efforts to be both off the wall and imaginative there's still an undercurrent of conventionality that I can't quite pinpoint. Maybe Gaiman's trying too hard to make his core group of characters oddballs and misfits and ends up dehumanising them to the extent that his lesbian character, Hazel, fails to understand how one gets pregnant and he wheels out the old transgender types - admittedly, probably not that "old" in mainstream 1989 comics, but Wanda just doesn't feel well written or nuanced - or maybe its just because the storyline just feels fairly dull and uninspired, with the main character Barbie (recently split from Ken *yawn*) receding into the dream world of her childhood which is now trying hard to free itself and destroy ,and possibly needing to be saved by the love and fortitude of her misfit friends. This ought to be the kind of thing that I'd enjoy and certainly from the endless rave reviews this comic has received over time, I feel that I'm missing whatever it is that has turned this comic into a beloved treasure for most people. In sketch and outline its fine, but somewhere in the execution, perhaps the uninspired art or Gaiman's less than compelling characterisations, it simply isn't catching fire.

R.J.Christensen does a masterful job. Miscarriage is a traumatic experience and this book takes a compassionate look at the process and helps provide understanding and love. For those who have suffered this loss, this book is a must read. I highly recommend it.
This book was excellent! I loved Robin, and Chris really grew on me. There was plenty of action, and of course Alex and Cyprien were very involved. I am so happy for Phillipe! That was such a great scene. i still can't get over how manipulative Richard is, especially after all that Alex had done for him. If I'm not mistaken, this is the last book in the series. It makes me sad - would like to keep up on the adventures of the Darkyn. I hope her Kyndred series is just as entertaining and well-written.

Nice read so far; Soviet cancer ward as a microcosm of the diseased body politic. Sometimes about as interesting as watching the taiga freeze.
