I have a love/hate relationship with this series. However with this book it's only hate. In my opinion it's the worst of the books because it includes so much of the dynamic that I hate about these books. Bella is a weak excuse of a female. Not to say I'm not a fan of the damsel in distress routine, but this book just goes too far. Her boyfriend leaves so instead of sticking it to him, or eating tons of icecream and getting over him she turns into a zombie until O wow! his back! Get some strength girl!

I really liked this book up to the point when they escaped. I don't know, maybe I had higher expectations about the issues they would have on the outside. It just seemed that Jack was so descriptive about their life inside Room that I thought it would be the same outside. It seemed liked he rushed through every event. I also thought it very odd that he never really had to speak to a therapist about what he went through or how he was adjusting.

I was disappointed to find it to be mostly a series of not particularly inspiring reading lists of which I had already read a decent quantity in the areas that interested me. Seems to be made for people who are reading old books out of some sense of duty rather than because they have an innate interest in reading them. I think I'd focus on why particular books are interesting and how they reflect other things happening at the time more.

I've read it again since. It is good read every so often. This book was written as result of President Kimbabll's many discussions with people over the years. I love his straight forward nature. This is not a light read.
