I love John Grisham, and this is one of his masterpieces. It's not remarkable literature, but it will take you for a ride. Grisham always grabs me immediately, and I end up finishing his books in days.

-Fine advice -Better organized than Child of Mine -Too focused on recipes -Doesn't deal with the specific behavioral issues of raising a healthy child as well as Child of Mine -Is more modern in its understanding of nutrition than Child of Mine (talks about organic foods, etc)

"Love Walked In" has a blurb on the cover from Lolly Winston, who wrote "Good Grief." This made me laugh, because "Good Grief" is exactly the book I would compare "Love Walked In" to in a review. It's that sort of chick-lit that you really shouldn't call chick-lit. Romantic fiction, I guess? A smart heroine, complicated relationships, decent writing. It didn't overwhelm me with greatness, but Marisa de los Santos has a pretty writing style, and the plot of this book (girl-meets-boy intertwined with a sort of coming-of-age story) is intriguing enough, and there were a few lines I definitely enjoyed rereading. The ending is predictable but satisfactory, and left me with a pleasant afterglow. It's a good book to read if you're in the mood for smart chick-lit. I won't reread it, most likely, but I don't regret the time spent on it.

Book #2 in YS Lee's wonderful new series is another action packed adventure for street urchin-turned proper young lady- turned spy Mary Quinn. I love the London setting of this series and the Victorian setting. In this one, there's a death of a man who fell from the top of the tower of the clock (Big Ben) that is just being built at the Houses of Parliament site. Mary, disguised as a 12 year-old urchin boy, is sent to investigate. There's mystery, adventure, danger, and some romance. What I also like is the portrayal of Mary on the dust jacket by the usually unappreciated artist: Mary indeed has the look of a person with some Chinese blood, as she does in the story.

I love Jennifer Weiner. While I haven't loved all of her books, this one is decidedly one of her best. I enjoyed getting caught up on Cannie's life (from Good in Bed) and see the new predicaments she faces as a mother and wife. This book will make you both laugh and cry. It is deeper than typical chick lit. Weiner tells the story from both Cannie's point of view and her daughter, Joy's. I discovered insights from both of them.
