Spoiler alert! This is a great book, and a must-read. Its beautifully written, the story was enthralling, and vividly described by the author that you ended feeling like you're in the island amongst them. This story was a great example, why in certain group you'll need a leader......a strong leader who'll knows how to follow his conviction, stand by it, and not showing weakness among the group. Somebody has to lead otherwise you'll retort to savagery, and start killing each other. Why, they can't talk normal and have meeting how to survive, because human are social animal it needs interaction. Some wanted to be a leader, and others wanted to be lead. Thirteen kids was crashed in an island. Age ranging from six to thirteen years old. Ralph was the choosen chief, since he was the eldest, biggest, and strong but doesn't think like Piggy does. Even though, Piggy was fat, but his got brains and uses reason for survival, so he's a good advisor for Ralph. Jack wanted to be a chief, but was not voted among the group and used his rivaly towards Ralph. He forced some kids to be with his group, and hated Piggy for his smartness, since his a threat to his power...... Survival without using 'reason' is the most dangerous thing that could happen unless there's a person who can think like Piggy. Its a tragic end~~~

Absolutely fabulous book!!!!!!!! I read it while I was in Beijing and in French. The same woman I believe wrote another book (or maybe it was the same book published under a different title) that appeared in Oprah's Book Club. Beautifully written (again I read it in French) and a wonderful, heart- breaking story. I don't want to ruin it for you but it's definitely a story that you would never believe save for the fact that it's true. The most interesting part of the book is that the author(s)explain the ways in which one can be a prisoner. She was a prisoner as a princess, in an actual jail, in her mind, body and spirit all at different times in her life. Again, wonderful- Read it!
