I read about 20-25 of these books. I strongly remember wanting to read these because they seemed cool and my older sister read a few of them. I remember that our library had a little display of them and I also bought a lot of them through the book catalogs we got at school. I remember most strongly the set up of the books; each book started explaining the club and describing each of the members. I also strongly remember the covers. This one reveals that Stacey has diabetes.

4.999991 stars The only thing that keeps my from 5-starring this book is that I wish there were more! I want more of Kizzy and Anamique and Esme. I want more of the goblins and devils and Druj. I want to be able to just live inside these words all the time and never have to come back to reality. I like that these stories were dark and dangerous and not everything ended perfectly (Kizzy!). I also loved that though these worlds were full of fantastical things like magic and devils and reincarnation, they also felt so very real. I felt like I could walk those streets with Kizzy (thank goodness I didn't, because I know I was a girl who wanted a lot when I was a teenager and the goblins would've been chomping at the bit to get at me, too. Luckily, though, I'm not a big fan of fruit so I would've likely been saved by my pickiness. Take that, Mom! Now if they'd offered me bacon...), I could play a duet with Anamique (though not a very good one as my piano-playing skills are far from adequate thanks to disuse), I could be another one of those shy, bookish girls at Esme's school. Laini Taylor has a way of writing the fantastic in such a tangible way that no matter how crazy it sounds, it also sounds real and vibrant and alive. So if you're a fan of very evocative, beautiful, wonderful, realistic fantasy, check out anything by Laini Taylor because it's all great (I want it to be April already so I can read Dreams of God and Monsters! The cover is so gorgeous it hurts my eyes). And seriously, this lady knows how to end a story so that you're satisfied but also want more...hmm, what else does that remind me of? Oh no! Laini Taylor makes literary goblin fruit! How will I survive until April? Guess I can either reread Daughter of Smoke and Bone or maybe check out her other series :)

2010 list-This was very entertaining for a children's fairytale. I think it would appeal more to 4-7 graders. The boldness of Creel makes her an appealing female protagonist.

Mates, Dates, and Designer Divas is Nesta's book. She falls in deep smit with Simon, who is definetely upper crust. Nesta's used to being the "rich" one amongst her set, but Simon's world is one of riding and designer duds. Mainly, his sister's friend is a straight up racist bee-otch and Nesta's having a major crisis of self-esteem. And Izzie's singing with Ben's band, which is pretty neat-o. Nesta also gets wasted, which is funny. But this is where the first "translation" issues really become apparent. As you are probably aware, in England, a public school is what Americans would refer to as a private school. In dealing with Richie Rich and his gang, Nesta says she also goes to a public school because, as she later tells the girls, the public is allowed at their school. HA HA HA HA. At least, I think that's what she said, because they translated the public school to a private school to make sense to American audiences, making the next few lines of the book make absolutely NO sense.

not bad - not great. if you're going to do the smut thing, the energy has to be there. otherwise it's just going to be empty language. cronenberg was probably the perfect director for the film.

oh my god! What a gruesome, frustrating, disgusting, annoying, loooong book....... I couldn't stand how the violence was almost non-stop and extremely graphic. The only reason why I gave "Demon Lord" 2 stars was because despite how graphic it was, I really wanted to find out what eventually happened to Mirra...... and I was sadly disappointed. It ended with an annoying cliff hanger prompting you to read the next books. UGH! I will definitely not be reading the next book. I feel like I just wasted my time reading almost 800 pages worth of torture.
