I only read the pre-quel to The Iron Duke in this anthology by Brook. The 4 stars are for the Iron Seas. This is a great short, good character developmenet, great world building and a satisfying read. It is a good introduciton to the steampunk world of the Iron Duke.

If, before I had read David Copperfield, only I had known what a good book this was, I would have read this YEARS before. Such a good story, wonderfully descriptively developed characters: David, the Murdstones, Peggoty, Miss Betsey Trotwood, the Micawber family, Dora, Steerforth, Tradles, Little Em, Ham, Uriah Heep, Agnes. Truly good people and true villains. They are so unforgettable. As I was winding down my reading, I began to become sad that I would be finishing this book and leaving this wonderful world that Charles Dickens had created. No wonder David Copperfield was his favorite child.

HOLY KLUNK!! This was the first trilogy I read, this book was tagged as "If you liked Hunger Games, you'll love this" I read this saga first, and I fell in love with both. I salute James Dashner. He did such a great job in this book!

A grim portrayel of an Irish boy in the first world war, so not quite for me, but also about ireland and everything outside of war. A great book that I would recommend if you can get past some of the war scenes - but then again, without them it would have been unrealistic...

This classic novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a heart wrenching story revealing the results and consequences for the forbidden passion between a married, albeit abandoned, woman and a faithful, highly revered, minister during colonial times. With the many aspects presented, the obvious pregnancy, physiological changes in the minister carrying the burden of guilt, finger pointing from local citizens, and a child born outside of the blessings of marriage, this is a very thought provoking story. Some may have difficulty of the old, English language used to set the time. It may be a while before I stop saying, "come hither."

A sci-fi classic that sat on my shelf for over a year before I tackled it. While slow to get going, once I got into it, I was beyond captivated. An incredible story for fans of sci-fi, controversial topics, brilliantly witty dialogue, and cutting/not-so-thinly-veiled social commentary. I marked pages of dialogue or descriptions that blew me away and warranted second and third readings well after I finished the book. I never understood why Heinlein is revered as a genius of science fiction or writing in general, and while I don't typically read such explicit sci-fi (by which I mean, the stereotypical retro-age space-travel and robots type of sci-fi; I tend towards the contemporary in that genre), I absolutely loved this, and will not hesitate to lavish that well-deserved praise and respect on Heinlein in the future. This novel has since incited many intense discussions on the future of religion in society and of societal norms in general, and I believe will continue to do so for years to come. A beautifully well-done work.
